it does have moderately good facilities when compared to other colleges in kolkata (other than JU and IIEST shibpur as they are in a league of their own) but when compared to other top colleges (iem claims to be a top college), it falls short and it falls short by A LOT
it depends on the subject honestly but most subjects are not taught properly. while a main reason of that is perhaps the extra useless subjects that are taught during college hours, a lot of the teachers are also new and do not have experience in teaching.. they might know their stuff but they cant convey it properly. as for certain subjects like esp (essential skills for professionals) and sdp (skill development for professionals), they claim that these subjects will help in preparing for govt exams which might have been true if they were being taught properly and not during college hours... taking time out from courses such as maths and mechanics for this doesnt make sense... they should have kept this as an elective for those who wanted to do this
this years placement has been quite satisfactory. a lot of students from the cs branch and its sub branches (cse aiml, cse csbs, cse ai, etc) got a lot of offers in the range of 15-20 lpa ctc. even our mechanical branch had 100% placement with one senior getting a record-braking 9 job offers (6 from in campus placement, 3 from off campus interviews)
theres no such thing as a campus life here... u have to enter the building by 9:30 as the gates close at that time or u wont be allowed to do any class all day and then u have to run around to get permission to even get in which u usually wont get... after that u only get around 50 mins of break for tiffin and u have to sit around doing all the classes everyday. on top of that u only have around 12 days of leaves per sem allowed in first year and 75% attendance from second and even if i have more than 75 and miss a class u get treated like a legit criminal... if ur coming here expecting campus life, dont, its even worse than a school
One of the best infrastructure maintained with the equipment needed. Faculties are the best in business best in there field all are the rich in experience in there perticular field. Absolute clean and greeney.
I was the MBA student graduated in the year of 2024 I choose this college becouse this is one of the best private institutions in East and best in City Kolkata with proven record of 100% placement in the all portfolios.
Best and 100% placement with best company around 147 company visited our campus with good package and some big company's named are Marico PWC EY Deloitte Lava International Hindustan Unilever Nestle etc.
Yes absolutely value of money
Enjoying and Learning with best friendly faculty and juniors.
Best college must visit and have a look on prospectus.
It has modern classrooms, good labs, and a central library but limited space and several wifi and network issues. Infrastructure is decent but not so good. But they have ac which is good for this summer.
It emphasizes academic rigor and discipline. This curriculam is structured regular assessments, attendance is strictly monitored.Faculty members are well educated to teach students. students have the access of libraries and labs.
This college offers best placements for BBA and also for BCA. Their top recruiters are TCS,Infosys,Amazon,PWC,EY, Federal bank etc.The average package of freshers are 3.5-4lac per annum which is quite good amount to start.
It is value for money absolutely. They offer good placements, they have well and good infrastructure, they have best faculties, the college is also clean and looks like a school, they also provide ac in every room and they have wifi for students.
It has no campus life sadly. this college is basically a building like a corporate office, they don't have any playground, they just have a basketball court which is not necessary because everyone cant play basketball.
The BBA course takes place in the Ashram Campus of Salt Lake, IEMK. It is the most modernized building among all the buildings of IEM. It has got fully chilled air conditioned classrooms, which is a savior during this hot scorching summers. There is facility of clean washrooms. The water filters have serve both cold and normal temperature water. The building has got 2 working elevators, which is all time used by both students and faculties. The campus has a basket ball court, a game zone and a cafeteria, with friendly staffs.
One thing that IEM is famous for is its academics. Its a college where 'n' number of events will take place but, simultaneously academics is also prioritized. It has experienced faculties, who are ready to help you even after college hours and anytime during the college hours. Bunking classes is next to impossible in this college. And if someone pays attention during the classes, they don't have to study further at home. I REPEAT, COME TO IEM ONLY IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR CAREER.
Another thing that IEM is famous for is its placement records. They will bring you good companies like EY, Accenture etc, prepare you for the interviews and aptitude tests, but then it's you who will have to crack the job.
Whatever you'll be paying for your course, you'll get good return on investment. THAT IS GUARANTEED. You will just have to focus on classes, attend the events as you'll earn a lot of certificates and keep preparing for the placements. Follow the instructions of the faculties. Reach out to them in case you need help, they are always there to help you out.
As such you won't have any such campus life since, you are not allowed to bunk classes, got out of the building anytime. And back to back classes take place from 9:30am to 4:10pm. But you'll have time to interact withe seniors and fellow batchmates during the lunch break, and the 5 minutes gap between each classes(that is basically the time that the teacher takes to each your class from the faculty room). You would be allowed to go out of the campus during the lunch break. The campus asks for discipline, maintain that, and you are good to go. And the college has got a beautiful cafeteria, where students spend time before 9:30am and after 4:10pm and also during the lunch breaks.
IEM life is all about discipline, studies and co-curricular activities going hand in hand. So, before you get yourself into this, ask yourself this one question "Am I ready to live a disciplined life in college and build a career?" because you'd realize one day that this environment of IEM is going to train you for thr corporate world and take you a long way.
Infra is good, as the laboratories and classrooms are well equipped with modern technologies and technical instruments. The college is lacking proper sports area and cafeteria, otherwise the infra is good.
Academics is good as the professors are experienced and maximum of them have prior corporate and technical experience. The courses are well defined and the practical sessions are nicely explained and conducted by the faculties.
Placements is good as the college is among the top 5 private colleges from west bengal. Top companies from industry visits the campus and offers are also quite good from them. Overall the college holds the record of 100% placements.

Great building plans, classrooms are neat and good and labs are well equipped with equipments. There are 3 buildings almost nearby which help us to find all faculty members within reach and we'll availability.
Each and every teachers focus on this matter extremely. No labs are allowed before theory and I must say it is very strict in this matter they even call our guardians if we failed to score 20+ in midsems.
There were almost 200+ jobs. A lot of companies do come and mass recruiters take a lot as their name suggest but other companies like Google oracle do come and take some students depending on their skills of course.
For 85k we get a lot of facilities like free matlab ,LinkedIn learning, courses and what not.
Good.
Really worth it.

Fine and good ...
Fine and good
Fine and good
Not a great infrastructure....wifi not available everywhere and if availed do not have good Connectivity and the classrooms are small and slightly clostophoebic. Labs are not updated with the latest technology most of the times and if done, most teachers cannot help with its operation.
Quality of teaching varies....some faculty good and some terrible. Whatever field you choose to study, everyone is after only one thing i.e. AI and ML. But they do make you job ready in every terms by preparing you from First Year itself with excess pressure than required strangling you.
If one is happy with mass recruiting MNCs with a avg low salary, then he/she is good to go. One or two do get a high salary like 50LPA but that is definitely not from on campus placement. And avg salary from on-campus placements is something about 4-5 LPA.
Cost is terribly high for what they offer. Value for money - absolutely not.
I just have no comments on this.
Classrooms are equipped with basic amenities. The building consists of laboratories that are well equipped maintained as my stream is concerned. The students get benefit from the college library .But it provides certain limitations in terms of campus size.
The institute follows an updated and structured curriculum as my stream is concerned any strongly focusses on education .The Faculty members are quite helpful .Quality of teaching is more or less good. Developing new skill and implementing in projects is highly encouraged.
The placement in this college is better than any other private engineering college in West Bengal. The average package offered by the companies is good. TCS, Wipro, Accenture are some of the mass recruiters.
Yes. If a student:
Does not meet attendance requirements ,
Performs poorly in internal/external assessments,
Fails to keep up with the heavy academic load ,
then they can fail or be barred from continuing. So far, while there's no exact failure percentage, student reviews highlight that failure is possible , especially for those who treat the course lightly.
Dear Ritham
Based on your information it seems challenging to secure admission to IEM Salt Lake with a JEE Main rank of 48177 in the OBC-NCL category for CSE or CSE specialization. Cutoffs for top institutions can be quite competitive, and it's important to check the specific cutoff ranks for the desired course and category.
Would you like help exploring other options or institutions that might be a good fit for your rank using College predictor
Thanks.
