IEM Kolkata Admission Process

Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM), Kolkata offers admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. IEM Kolkata B.Tech admission is based on Institute of Engineering and Management Joint Entrance Exam (IEMJEE) conducted by University of Engineering & Management (UEM). Other than IEMJEE, the selection of candidates for the IEM Kolkata BTech course is done through JEE Main.

For MBA, IEM Kolkata admissions is done on the basis of scores in IEMJEE/ CAT/ MAT/ State level MBA Entrance Exam. Candidates have to appear for WB JECA conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Board (WBJEEB) to be eligible for IEM Kolkata MCA admission. IEM Kolkata UG Admissions 2024

Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata offers admission to UG courses such as BTech, BBA and BCA. Tabulated below are the IEM Kolkata UG eligibility criteria.

IEM Kolkata B.Tech Admission Process

For admission to the BTech course, candidates need to meet the IEM Kolkata BTech eligibility criteria.
Apply and appear for Institute of Engineering and Management Joint Entrance Exam (IEMJEE) conducted by University of Engineering & Management (UEM).
However, other than IEMJEE the selection for BTech is done through JEE Main.
Candidates who qualify the entrance exam will be eligible to participate in the IEMJEE counselling process.
During the IEMJEE counselling process, candidates have to fill the choice of course of their interest.
Later, candidates need to get their documents verified and pay the course fees.

IEM Kolkata Admission Process: BBA/BCA

For admission to the BBA/BCA course, candidates need to meet the IEM Kolkata BBA/BCA eligibility criteria.
Then, candidates have to select Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata as their choice of courses at the official website.
Then, they have to submit all the required documents and upload them on the management portal of the college.
Lastly, the candidates need to get their documents verified and pay the course fees.

IEM Kolkata PG Admissions 2024

IEM Kolkata Admission Process: M.Tech/M.Sc

Candidates must fulfil the IEM Kolkata BBA/BCA eligibility requirements in order to be admitted to the BBA/BCA programme.
Next, on the official website, candidates must choose the Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata as their course of study.
After that, students must upload the necessary paperwork to the college's management site.
Finally, the candidates must pay the course costs and have their documents confirmed.

IEM Kolkata MCA Admission Process

First, candidates have to meet the IEM Kolkata MCA eligibility criteria for admission to the MCA course.
Appeared for WB JECA, conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB).
After the declaration of the WB JECA result, qualified candidates have to appear for WB JECA counselling and give preference to IEM Kolkata.
Seats will be allotted on the basis of candidates' scores in the entrance test and preference filled by the candidates.

Well in 1st round of counselling I got Nsec , cse branch my rank is 11K , shall I join it or wait for other rounds for higher preference like IEM , Heritage, Techno main saltlake, Kgec , Jgec , in all I gave cse/IT/ece preference????

To get a clearer picture, let us consider both the cases :

Joining NSEC Now:
- You have secured a seat in CSE, which is a preferred branch.
- If you are okay with NSEC's reputation, placements, and facilities, it can be a safe option.
Waiting for Other Rounds:
- You may get a chance in higher preference colleges with better reputations and placement records.
- There is a risk involved; if you wait and don't get a better option, you might miss out on NSEC as well.

Now based on your situation, my recommendations are :-

Research Thoroughly: Look at the latest placement records, campus facilities, and faculty of NSEC and compare them with your higher preference colleges.
Counselling Trends: Check previous years' counselling trends to gauge the likelihood of getting a seat in the next rounds at your preferred colleges.
Consult with Seniors/Alumni: Talk to current students or alumni of NSEC and your preferred colleges to get a real-world perspective on academics, placements, and campus life.

Based on your research and personal preferences, make an informed decision. If you are confident about getting a seat in one of your higher preference colleges in the next rounds, it might be worth waiting. Otherwise, securing a seat in CSE at NSEC could be a prudent choice.

Is Iem Calcutta is better than other institutions in calcutta in placement..I did not appear in Wbjee this year..can I get admission in Iem Btech..kindly suggest

Hello Aspirant,

IEM Kolkata is a good college to pursue BTech. However, it is not the best. Colleges like Jadavpur University and KGEC are far better than IEM. Also, IEM is a private institute, and Jadhavpur and KGEC are government colleges. But, IEM is one of the best colleges in KOLKATA. If you are getting CS Branch you can definitely go for it.

Since, you have not taken the WBJEE exam, you have to get admitted to that college through the management quota. You can contact the college directly or go through counsellors. However, this method is not advisable . Many counsellors just go on bluffing people. So take your decision wisely.
