Hello

That’s a great and forward-thinking career goal. Clinical Genetics is a specialized field, and you are right, not many institutes in India offer a direct MD in Genetics. Most students take an MD in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine first, then super-specialize in Genetics. If you’re aiming abroad, countries like the US, UK, or Canada offer structured residency and fellowship programs in Medical Genetics. You’ll likely need to clear exams like USMLE, PLAB, or MCCQE, depending on the country. Meanwhile, try to do research, electives, or internships in genetics-related areas. It’ll strengthen your profile and help confirm your interest.

Hey! If your dream is to do MBBS and later become a Cardiologist (MD/DM), then you need to follow a step-by-step path. First, complete your 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. After that, you must qualify NEET-UG to get admission into MBBS (5.5 years including internship). Once MBBS is completed, you have to clear NEET-PG to do MD in General Medicine. After MD, you need to clear NEET-SS for DM in Cardiology, which is the super-specialty course. So in short, the journey is 12th → NEET-UG → MBBS → NEET-PG → MD → NEET-SS → DM Cardiology. It’s a long process but with hard work and consistent preparation, it’s definitely achievable.
