Sir Im Karnataka Resident OBC candidate passed CTET P-2. While Applying for APDSC, despite OBC, I prefer to choose OC. caste. But Which Sub Caste Should I choose? please give suggestions. Thank You

Tanisha chaudhary 25th Apr, 2025

Based on Karnataka’s OBC list and APDSC (Andhra Pradesh DSC) norms , here’s a structured approach:

  • APDSC follows Andhra Pradesh’s OBC list , not Karnataka’s.

  • If applying in Karnataka : Use Karnataka’s OBC certificate (e.g., Category 2A, 3A)

  • For Karnataka-Based Applications
If you’re applying in Karnataka (assuming a typo in "APDSC"):

    • OBC Sub-Castes :

      • Category 2A : Balija, Bestha, Gangaputra

      • Category 3A : Uppara, Vishwakarma.

      • Full List : Refer to the Karnataka OBC PDF ( Result 1 (https://www.ncbc.nic.in/Writereaddata/cl/karnataka.pdf) ) for your exact sub-caste.

    • OC Option :

      • Avoid OC if you hold a valid Karnataka OBC certificate, as it reduces competition (OBC has reserved seats).

      • If opting for OC : You cannot claim reservation benefits .

  • Do Not Opt for OC : As an OBC candidate, selecting OC forfeits your reservation eligibility , increasing competition.

  • Verify Sub-Caste : Cross-check your caste in Karnataka’s OBC list ( Result 1 (https://www.ncbc.nic.in/Writereaddata/cl/karnataka.pdf) ) and match it exactly in the application.
  • Example : If your caste is Balija (2A in Karnataka), select "Balija" under OBC. Do not choose OC .

Final Answer : Do not select OC . Choose your exact OBC sub-caste from Karnataka’s OBC list (e.g., Balija, Uppara) to retain reservation benefits. If applying in Andhra, confirm eligibility first.

As you can see choose whether to take it or not its upto you but you can opt for OBC  its the better option. However you can match your resuts from the above links provided and search further for it .always takes what's suitable for future refrences.

Hope it will help you clear your mind.

Can you prepare for ctet in just 2-3 months from level zero ???

SUKRITI GUPTA 20th Apr, 2025

Yes, preparing for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) in just 2-3 months starting from level zero is absolutely achievable with a focused and strategic approach. The CTET syllabus, while comprehensive, is designed to assess your understanding of fundamental teaching concepts and child psychology, which can be grasped within a dedicated timeframe.

To succeed, you'll need to create a structured study plan. Begin by thoroughly understanding the CTET syllabus for the specific level (Paper I for primary, Paper II for upper primary, or both). Divide the syllabus into manageable topics and allocate time for each based on its weightage and your familiarity. Consistent daily study is key, even if it's for a few focused hours each day.

Since you're starting from level zero, NCERT books from classes 1 to 8 (depending on the paper you're attempting) will be your foundational resources. These books provide the core concepts in subjects like Child Development and Pedagogy, Environmental Studies, Mathematics, Science, and Languages. Supplement your NCERT reading with CTET-specific guidebooks and study materials that offer concise explanations and practice questions aligned with the exam pattern.

Regular practice through previous years' question papers and mock tests is crucial. This will familiarize you with the exam format, question types, time management, and help you identify your strengths and weaknesses. Analyze your performance in these practice sessions and dedicate more time to areas where you are struggling. Effective time management during the actual exam is also something you can develop through consistent practice.

Finally, stay focused and motivated throughout your preparation. Avoid distractions and maintain a positive attitude. Consistent effort and a well-planned strategy will significantly increase your chances of clearing the CTET exam within your 2-3 month timeframe, even starting from a basic level of understanding.

I hope it helps.

I want to know about SSC CGL exam

SUKRITI GUPTA 20th Apr, 2025

The Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (SSC CGL) exam is a national-level examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for the recruitment of eligible candidates for various Group B and Group C posts in different ministries, departments, and organizations of the Government of India. A bachelor's degree from a recognized university is the basic educational qualification required to appear for this exam. The age limit varies depending on the specific post, generally ranging from 18 to 32 years, with age relaxations for certain categories.

The SSC CGL exam is conducted in two tiers: Tier-I and Tier-II, both of which are computer-based online examinations. Tier-I is a qualifying stage, and the marks obtained in this tier are not counted for the final merit list. It consists of four sections: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. Each section comprises 25 questions, with each question carrying 2 marks, making a total of 100 questions and 200 marks. The total time allotted for the Tier-I exam is 60 minutes, and there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer.

Candidates who clear the Tier-I cutoff are eligible to appear for the Tier-II examination. The Tier-II exam has a different pattern and consists of three papers. Paper-I is compulsory for all posts and is divided into three sections: Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, and English Language and Comprehension, and General Awareness. There is also a Computer Knowledge Test and a Data Entry Speed Test as part of Paper-I. Paper-II is for candidates applying for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and involves Statistics. Paper-III is for candidates applying for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer and covers General Studies (Finance and Economics). There is negative marking in Tier-II as well; 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer in Sections I and II of Paper-I, and 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II and Paper-III. The marks scored in the Tier-II exam are crucial for the final selection.

I hope this helps.

How to become ias officer and how actually achieve my goal I am currently a research scholar

NITYAM MAHUR 12th Apr, 2025

Hello!!

That's a great goal—and your background as a research scholar can actually be a big asset in preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Exam (CSE), which is the path to becoming an IAS officer.

Step-by-Step Guide to Become an IAS Officer:

1. Understand the Exam Structure

The UPSC CSE has three stages:

Prelims: Objective (GS Paper + CSAT)

Mains: Descriptive (9 papers)

Interview: Personality Test

2. Check Eligibility

Age: 21 to 32 (for General category)

Degree: Any graduate degree (you already qualify)

3. Choose Your Optional Subject

Choose something you’re comfortable with (can be from your research field if it's available).

Popular optionals: Sociology, Geography, PSIR, Anthropology, etc.

4. Build a Study Plan

Since you're a research scholar, time management is key.

Daily 4–6 hours of focused study can work if you're consistent.

Focus on:

NCERTs (6th–12th)

Standard books (like Laxmikanth for Polity, Spectrum for History)

Current Affairs (The Hindu, Indian Express, or PIB + Monthly compilations)

5. Join a Test Series (Optional but Helpful)

For Prelims and Mains: to build speed, writing skills, and clarity.

6. Practice Answer Writing

Mains is all about articulation. Practice with previous year questions and mock tests.

7. Appear for the Exam

Notification comes out around February.

Prelims is in May/June, Mains in September, and Interview early next year.

How to Align This With Your Research Schedule:

Create a realistic time-table that includes 2–3 hours on weekdays, and more on weekends.

Use your research experience for deeper understanding and essay writing.
