Yes, you can definitely apply for Priority VIII of the defense quota in JAC Delhi counselling if your father is currently serving in the BSF and does not have any gallantry awards. BSF does come under the defense quota.
JAC Delhi allocates seats in some colleges under the defense quota for children and wards of defense personnel. The Border Security Force (BSF) is one of the seven Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) of India and is considered part of the defense forces.
The defense quota has various priority categories based on the service and achievements of the defense personnel parent. Priority VIII applies to children of ex-servicemen (ESM) who are in service in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) like BSF. Since your father is currently serving in the BSF, you fall under this category.
Download the latest JAC Delhi counselling brochure and look for the section on the defense quota. It should specify the priority categories and eligibility criteria.
You can find news articles or information portals that explain the defense quota system in JAC Delhi counselling.
During the counselling process, ensure you have all the necessary documents to prove your eligibility for the defense quota, including your father's service identity card and other relevant documents.
