B.Ed. is an academic qualification that is necessary for teaching at secondary and higher secondary school levels in India. If you want to take up teaching (secondary and higher level) as a profession, you must possess this Degree.
In its traditional format, B.Ed. is a Degree course that can be pursued after completing graduation (minimum eligibility criteria). Graduates (or those holding even higher qualifications), who have successfully completed relevant graduation program, are eligible to pursue this course. Previously, B.Ed. program’s duration was 1 year. But this academic program has been revised and the duration was increased to 2 years from academic session 2015-2016 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
This means that at present, if one wants to pursue B.Ed. after graduation, it will take about 5 years to complete the whole process. For example- Completing relevant undergraduate Degree course like B.Sc. or B.A. will take 3 years. This has to be followed by B.Ed. In total, this will take 5 years (3+2) to complete.
But Integrated B.Ed. program can be pursued right after 12th. Also, the course duration is 4 years. Yes, 1 year less than the time taken in the traditional B.Ed. method.
Let us take a closer look at Integrated B.Ed. course and check out vital details about the course-
