Question : Direction: In a row, 25 trees are planted at equal distances from each other. The distance between the 1st and the 25th tree is 30 m. What is the distance between the 3rd and the 15th tree?
Option 1: 8 m
Option 2: 15 m
Option 3: 16 m
Option 4: 18 m
Correct Answer: 15 m
Solution : Let the distance between two consecutive trees be X. So, the distance between the 1st and the 25th tree will be 24X. (As there are 24 parts between the 1st and the 25th tree).
But, it is given that the distance between the 1st and 25th tree is 30 m.
⇒ 24X = 30 m
⇒ X = 1.25 m
There are 12 parts between the 3rd and the 15th tree. So, the distance between the 3rd and 15th tree will be 1.25 × 12 = 15 m.
Hence, second option is correct.
