Question : Directions: By Interchanging the given two numbers which of the following equations will be correct?
7 and 3
Option 1: 3 ÷ 1 – 7 × 2 + 4 = 8
Option 2: 3 × 2 + 7 – 6 ÷ 3 = 18
Option 3: 3 + 7 × 4 – 6 ÷ 2 = 20
Option 4: 7 + 3 × 2 – 4 ÷ 1 = 13
Correct Answer: 7 + 3 × 2 – 4 ÷ 1 = 13
Solution :
Given:
7 and 3
Replace the given numbers in the options one by one with the original numbers in the given equation.
First option:
3 ÷ 1 – 7 × 2 + 4 = 8
Solving the L.H.S of the equation –
⇒ 7 ÷ 1 – 3 × 2 + 4 = 8
= 7 – 6 + 4
= 5 ≠ 8
Second option:
3 × 2 + 7 – 6 ÷ 3 = 18
Solving the L.H.S of the equation –
⇒ 7 × 2 + 3 – 6 ÷ 3 = 18
= 14 + 3 – 2
= 15 ≠ 18
Third option:
3 + 7 × 4 – 6 ÷ 2 = 20
Solving the L.H.S of the equation –
⇒ 7 + 3 × 4 – 6 ÷ 2
= 7 + 12 – 3
= 16 ≠ 20
Fourth option:
7 + 3 × 2 – 4 ÷ 1 = 13
Solving the L.H.S of the equation –
⇒ 3 + 7 × 2 – 4 ÷ 1
= 3 + 14 – 4
= 13
So, only the fourth option satisfies the R.H.S. of the given equation. Hence, the fourth option is correct.
