Dear Jilani, to be honest, it is really tough for you to get into an IIM.IIMs usually consider only 40-60% of your CAT percentile and the rest is based on your Academic performance. Academic diversity, gender diversity, work experience, performance in group discussion/WAT and Personal Interview. To be shortlisted for an IIM, there is a rating scale that most of the IIMs follow. IIM A follows this:
10th Rating:
Percent score Rating Score
<= 55 1
> 55 and <= 60 2
> 60 and <= 70 3
> 70 and <= 80 5
> 80 and <= 90 8
> 90 10
The same rating score is used for 12th Science /Commerce Streams. For Arts/Humanities:
Percent score Rating Score
<= 45 1
> 45 and <= 50 2
> 50 and <= 60 3
> 60 and <= 70 5
> 70 and <= 85 8
> 85 10
Now after all the ratings, top 5% of the Candidates from across each Category will be shortlisted for WAT and Personal Interivew. In such case with your Academic performance, irrespective of your Category, your CAT percentile should be nothing less than 99%.
10th Rating:
Percent score Rating Score
<= 55 1
> 55 and <= 60 2
> 60 and <= 70 3
> 70 and <= 80 5
> 80 and <= 90 8
> 90 10

Percent score Rating Score
