I have done civil engineering and now I want to build my career in teaching except in technical colleges

To build your career in teaching ,it is best if you start with training courses for teaching. Some of such courses are explained below:

1. D.El.Ed : This is a two year diploma course for teaching the Elementary students. It was designed primarily for in service untrained teachers but all elementary teachers must compulsorily have this diploma inorder to be eligible to teach.  You must have 50% in 10+2  to be eligible for this course. Once done ,you will be eligible to teach the Elementary courses in both private or government schools. It is being offered online by National institute of open schooling.

2. Bachelor of Education is a two year program that also offers skill based training in the field of teaching. You must have a graduate degree for this course . The National Council for teachers education is the sole authority managing the B.ed course all over India. There are several top colleges offering B.Ed degree all over India . Once you have this degree, you will be eligible to teach the higher classes in a school. Not only that,there are many colleges offering distance education for this degree.

If you are interested in teaching in lower classes or high schools, then with your degree,you can do either of the above mentioned  courses and go for teaching elementary or high school students .

If you wish to pursue teaching for higher secondary students ,then you must pursue higher education such as masters in any subject that you prefer such as basic science or arts to teach your subject of interest to higher classes.

For teaching in higher education institutions ,you must have a masters or Doctorate degree in that subject depending on the college requirements. Along with that you must be NET qualified for teaching in institutions of  higher education. NET or UGC NET is the National Eligibility Test is the exam conducted to test your eligibility for University and college level lectureship and also for granting Junior Research Fellowship. It is also an exam to ensure the standards of teaching profession at college level. You must have 55% marks in your masters degree to be eligible for this exam.
