is there any thing of Btech 1st year Semesters preperation classes or study tips also for the whole 4 years planning or courses semesterwise
Hi,
I hope you are doing well.
Here are some tops.
- Start coding early. Get hands on experience with programming as soon as possible. Keep your expectations right. You’ll have to spend a ton of time to learn programming. Don’t give up easily on the initial setbacks you might face.
- Keep building something. Programming is a very powerful skill. You should try to build something every semester. Be it a small game, a webapp, or android app. Keep building. You learn a lot more by actually building something than just reading docs/tutorials on technologies. Also it’s a lot of fun.
- Develop good problem solving skills. Spend good amount of time learning algorithms and data structures. Don’t just read, implement them in whatever language. Keep solving algorithm problems you can find around the internet.(SPOJ, Codechef, TopCoder, hackerrank). Don’t give up, until you at least spend a few days on a problem. Spending days thinking about a hard problem and finally arriving at the solution all by yourselves is one of the best feelings you can get.
- Binge watching isn’t cool. I know a lot engineering graduates just sit and watch TV series one after other. There is nothing cool about this. While there is nothing wrong in watching TV series, if this is the only thing you did in the entire semester. It’s definitely not good. Do something productive, go out and spend some time.
- Don’t focus on the job. Focus on the skills. Stay curious, keep learning everything. How servers work ? How databases work ? Block chain ? Machine learning ? Keep building new things. If you are just doing interview based preparation from day one, there is very little you are going to learn.
- CGPA matters. You might have a bunch of courses that you know for sure aren’t going to be useful anytime in the future. Having a good CGPA helps, specially when you are applying for MS in foreign universities. Take this suggestion with a grain of salt. While having good CGPA helps a bit, running after CGPA without any proper programming skills is a very bad idea.
