Pancreas is an endocrine and exocrine organ.
The islets of langerhans are the endocrine cells of pancreas. They contain alpha, beta, delta cells.
Alpha cells secrete glucagon which increases the blood glucose.
Beta cells secrete insulin which decreases the blood glucose.
Delta cells secret stomatostatin which is a growth inhibitor.
The exocrine part of the pancreas are made up of acinar cells.
They secrete enzymes like trypsin and chymotrypsin which helps in the digestion of proteins. Amaylase which helps in the digestion of carbohydrates. Lipase which digests fat.
