Hello Chaithanyaa
The tolerance level for "Numerical Type Questions" in Gate exam completely depends on the question. Generally the tolerance level is maintains as -5% to +5% in questions that involves only one fommula. This is the standard mentioned by the authorities. The tolerance level varies from question to question and its level like from easy, intermediate to high level which involves more logical and mathematical tools.
So we cannot have a 100% clarity in terms of the tolerance range. Also in terms of the decimal places, Gate exam allows only two decimal places.
For example, if the answer to a question is: 344.56
So the tolerance level will be 342.56 to 346.56 and if your answer lies in this range then you will get the marks alotted else no marks will be given to you.
Apart from that if your answer in the same question is in range but in place of having 2 decimal places, your answer contains 4 decimal places then the Gate exam considers it to be a wrong answer and there by no mark is alotted to such answers.
So one needs to be careful as well as exact in his answers to get through the NAT in Gate exam.
I hope you are satisfied with the answer.
All the best to you!
Regards
Sarah Khan
