Most of the Indian Technical Universities have a similar curriculum as far as Civil Engineering is concerned. At IIT KGP, one of the Oldest Civil Engineering Departments after erstwhile Thomson College of Civil Engineering Roorkee (IITR) and IIT BHU, the curriculum is as follows
1st Year : Foundation Subject (PCMB), Economics, EVS, Manufacturing Processes, Mechanics, Programming & Data Structures, etc.
2nd Year : Intro to Civil Engineering/Structural Materials, Advanced Calculus, Transportation Engineering, Surveying, Basic Foundation Courses for Civil Engineering, Solid Mechanics, Water Resources, Structural Analysis
3rd Year : Most Students Interested in Civil Engineering, consider taking Projects from this Year under Professors. Project Driven Approach is a vey effective method to become a proficient Engineer.
Curriculum is all about Soil Mechanics, Lots of Laboratories, Engineering Drawing Course, Hydraulics, Few Courses like Material Testing, Steel, RC Structure from Mechanical/Metallurgical Departments.
Final Year : B.Tech Project
Structural Analysis Advanced, CAD, Structural Dynamics, Earthquake Engineering
