Which enjennering college is best, durgapur NIT or shibpur?

I would definitely go for IIEST Shibpur due to a number of reasons.

• Cut off ranks for IIEST Shibpur are much higher and you need to score higher to get into any branch as compared to NIT Durgapur.
• IIEST Shibpur receives similar funding as compared to IIT's which is 40% more than NIT Durgapur.
• The campus of Shibpur is much cleaner and greener and the crowd is also better.
• The hostels of Shibpur are much better than Durgapur.
• Placements are more or less similar in both colleges.

To begin with, IIEST Shibpur is ranked 30 by NIRF, while NIT Durgapur is ranked 47.

The funding IIEST receives is at par with the old IITs . NITs including Durgapur receive 40% lower funding.

Both of them have beautiful and well maintained campuses.

Research : IIEST hands down . Ranked 7th in India after just the old IITs. NIT Durgapur is not even close

Placements:More or less same . NIT Durgapur has marginally bigger highest package and average package but IIEST has greater median package which is of greater value . Placement percentages are more or less same . IIEST just became an Indian institute under the central government in 2014 while NIT came under central goverment in early 2000s. IIEST placements are improving at a rapid pace . NIT Dgp placemnts are also inproving but at a slower pace .

Hope these points help you to choose. Both of them are excellent. I would suggest NIT dgp if you choose to get a job after undergrad and choose IIEST  if you want to pursue masters.
