GH Raisoni Institute of Engineering and Technology, Pune Admission Process

GH Raisoni Institute of Engineering and Technology (GHRIET), Pune, is indeed a reputed engineering institute associated with the much exhaustive admission process. The institute offers various undergraduate engineering programs, and the admissions are on a very merit-based approach. GHRIET has its admission process aimed at selecting talent-sensitive as well as deserving candidates from different states across the country, thereby creating a diverse student body with competence.

The admission cycle starts for GHRIET roughly the same as the nationally and state-level entrance examinations. Primarily, undergraduate program applicants are screened based on these two major entrance exams: Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET). Both are usually conducted during the first half of the year, with JEE Main usually in January and April and MHT CET, in April-May.

The basic eligibility criterion for undergraduate programs is passing a recognized board's higher secondary or 10+2 equivalent education. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics must be studied as compulsory subjects during higher secondary education. The cutoff marks can vary from year to year; however, generally, candidates are expected to have a good background in these core subjects.

      Application Process

Stepwise application procedure for GH Raisoni Institute of Engineering and Technology, Pune:

      1. Qualifying in either JEE Main or MHT CET: Candidates must qualify in either of these examinations. However, it is preferable to attempt both to enhance chances of admission.

      2. Register for Counselling: Qualified candidates have to register for the centralized admission process just after the announcement of results. For JEE Main qualifiers, this would be the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling, while for MHT CET, it would be the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra State counselling.

      3. Choice Filling: During the counselling process, candidates need to list GHRIET and their preferred courses in order of preference.

      4. Seat Allocation: Candidates' seats will be allocated based on their rank and choices. Once a seat has been allotted to the candidate at GHRIET, an acceptance will have to be confirmed within the time provided.

      5. Document Verification: Candidates that have been allotted seats should report to GHRIET for document verification. Documents needed typically include:

        • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates

        • JEE Main/MHT CET score card

        • Category certificate (if applicable)

        • Domicile certificate (for Maharashtra state candidates)

        • Passport size photographs

        • Any other documents specified by the institute or admission authority

      6. Fee Payment: Once successfully completing the verification of documents, candidates would require payment of the relevant admission fees to confirm their seat.

      7. Final Admission: On completion of fee payment or all formalities, a candidate is authorized into GHRIET as a student.

Prospective students are also advised to check regularly the official website of GHRIET as well as that of respective examination authorities, so that they can get updated information about the admission dates as well as the processes or additional requirements that may be needed for admission consideration. Admission is competitive among students, who are encouraged to prepare well for the entrance exams and keep all the important documentation available to make the admission process run smoothly.

      Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Tech: There are six full-time undergraduate engineering programs leading to a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree, all offered by GHRIET. These undergraduate engineering programs are:

      1. Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering

      2. Computer Engineering

      3. Information Technology

      4. Electrical Engineering

      5. Mechanical Engineering

      6. Civil Engineering

These programs are open to admission based mainly on the aspirant's performance at JEE Main or MHT CET. The institute has a total intake of 1194 across all its undergraduate programs.

      Academics

I am a TY student and studying engineering because of interest in coding specifically. Academics are manageable but not very advanced. Teachers explain concepts well, but the teaching style is mostly theory-focused. The syllabus is followed as per university guidelines, but it does not always cover the latest industry trends. Projects and assignments help in learning, but students need to put extra effort through self-study and online resources to become job-ready.

      College Infra

College has decent infrastructure overall. Classrooms are clean and spacious enough for regular lectures. Laboratories are available and functional, but some equipment is old and needs updating. The library has basic textbooks, but the number of copies is limited, especially during exams, which makes it difficult sometimes. Wi-Fi is available on campus, but the speed is inconsistent and does not work properly in all areas. Sports facilities are present, but they are limited and not used regularly by all students. The campus is generally clean, and the canteen food is hygienic.

      Campus Life

Campus life is simple and calm. The college organizes some cultural and technical events, but they are limited in scale. Students are friendly, teachers are approachable, and staff is cooperative. The location is safe and easy to reach by public transport. Overall, campus life is decent but not very active.

      Placements

Placements in the college are average. Some companies visit the campus every year, mostly offering entry-level roles. The highest package offered is around 20-25 LPA,usually for a small number of students. The average package is around 4 LPA. The placement cell conducts basic training like aptitude sessions, but students need to work on their skills and projects on their own to get better opportunities.

      Value For Money

The fees are reasonable compared to other private engineering colleges. Considering the infrastructure, academics, and placement support, the college offers fair value for money. However, improvements in labs and industry exposure would make it more worthwhile.
