Nagarjuna College of Engineering and Technology (NCET), Bangalore is an autonomous institution providing several engineering and management programs. The college adopts a systematic admission procedure to ensure the selection of deserving candidates for its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Most admissions at NCET are given based on entrance examination results relevant to the intended disciplines.
NCET usually runs its admission cycle according to the current academic year, which typically begins in August to September. Although dates change from one year to another, students should study for admissions well ahead of those months. All NCET undergraduate engineering programs are open through the acceptance of national-level and state-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, KCET, and COMEDK UGET. However, GATE, PGCET, and KMAT are applicable for postgraduate programs.
Applicants must complete the 10+2 or equivalent qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects to be eligible for undergraduate programs at NCET. The minimum aggregate score is generally between 50 and 60 % in the qualifying examination for each course. For postgraduate programs, the applicant must have a relevant degree at the undergraduate level with a minimum percentage as given for each course.
Application Process
Different courses at NCET have different processes for applying:
For B.Tech programs:
Qualify in JEE Main, KCET, or COMEDK UGET.
For the counseling session, register for the specific process (KEA for KCET; COMEDK for UGET).
Choose the college and course choice when attending counseling.
If allotted to NCET, report to college for document verification and confirmation of admission.
For M.Tech programs:
Appear for GATE or PGCET (Karnataka).
Admission will be granted directly at NCET based on valid GATE/PGCET scores.
Attend any other selection rounds as communicated by the institution.
For MBA program:
Take KMAT, CMAT, MAT, or PGCET.
Apply at NCET along with the respective exam scores.
Participate in the selection process at the college, which may contain group discussion and personal interview stages.
Selection in NCET is based on merit whereby students are offered admission based on the performance during entrance examinations and their academic records. Some of the programs, mainly at the postgraduate level, may also consider other factors such as work experience and performance in interviews.
Degree-wise Admission Process
B.Tech: B.Tech courses are being offered at NCET in several streams that fall under Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Data Science. Admission into these programs will be based on relevant entrance exam performance—KCET, COMEDK UGET, or JEE Main. The total intake across all B.Tech programs at the college is 720 seats.
M.Tech: Admissions to M.Tech programs like Structural Engineering at NCET are based on valid GATE scores or PGCET (Karnataka) results. The condition for eligibility in admission is that the student should possess BE/B.Tech in the relevant field. There may be additional rounds such as personal interviews or written tests as part of the admission procedure.
MBA: This program has an intake capacity of 120 in NCET—the MBA program. Admissions are based through an entrance examination on the scores obtained from KMAT, CMAT, MAT, or PGCET. The general candidate selection process usually entails analyzing performance in the entrance exam and possibly further stages such as group discussion and personal interview.
Typical admission requirements include:
Mark sheets with certificates of 10th and 12th grades
Scores of entrance examinations
Degree certificates and marksheets (for master's programs)
Transfer certificate
Migration certificate (if required)
Caste certificate (if required)
Passport Size Photograph
