Admission Process

The selection list is based on a composite score, which takes into account the applicant’s profile, academic record, entrance test scores (CAT/XAT/GMAT), relevance of work experience (if any) and performance in the two rounds of group interviews.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  • The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. The percentage obtained by the candidate for the bachelor’s degree would be based on the practice followed by the institution/university from where the candidate has obtained the degree. The degree should be awarded by a college/ institute/ university which is been recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Applicants in the last year of a degree and those who have completed the degree but are awaiting results can also apply. The applicant should have obtained 50% marks or equivalent in the latest exam that has been completed. In such a case, applicants must provide a provisional certificate from the Principal/ Registrar of his/ her institute/ college stating that he/ she has appeared for all the exams and has completed all the obligations required to obtain the degree.
  • Such applicants, if selected, have to provide the degree awarded by the University latest by December 31, 2018, until which the registration will be considered as provisional. The registration to the program will stand canceled if the applicant fails to submit the degree by December 31, 2018.
  • If the applicants have undergone/completed an integrated master’s degree or dual degree directly after their 12th /HSC, the percentage of marks obtained as per their institute/university norms, which is considered as equivalent to bachelor’s degree will be considered.
  • If the institute provides grades/CGPA instead of marks, a conversion of the same is mandatory. If no conversion is available/ provided, then a percentage would be calculated by dividing the CGPA obtained to the total CGPA and multiplying the result by 100.
  • For the applicants who are awaiting their final results of the bachelor’s degree, available marks of the previous semesters/ years would be considered for calculating graduation percentage.
  • For applicants who do not have a bachelor’s degree but have completed their CA/ICWA/CS, an aggregate of the Inter and Final marks will be taken into consideration.

Strength in Diversity

Batch of 2018 | PGDM
SPJIMR is situated in a plush 40 acres campus in Andheri West, Mumbai. We have 4 specializations in our flagship 2 year PGDM course- Finance, Marketing, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Information Management. It is one of the few colleges in India where admission is based on merit and not on reservation of any sort. Apart from this the admission is broken up into two sectors: Profile Based and Score Based. This ensures a crowd which is very diverse in nature, case in point being I study with someone who is an actor in the Bengali film industry, a singer in the Marathi film industry, someone who is a nail artist, a cricketer for Jharkhand, an MS in physics employed in the R & D of Mercedes Benz, CAs, Digital Marketers and many more. Each of them brings their own unique traits which miraculously amalgamates into this glorious pool of resources and experiences for everyone to draw from. The pedagogy involves education through group work. Hence all through the 2 years, every assignment and project that one works on is in a group. This imbibes team spirit, fraternity and provides access to the collective knowledge and experience. Another great differentiator of SPJIMR is the Global FastTrack program where PGDM participants get to study advanced courses at top colleges in USA (Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Darden, and Booth) for a month. Apart from this students spend their first year mentoring an under privileged kid. At the end of the second semester they travel abroad (Colombia, Vietnam) and in India for rural immersion program of 5 weeks. This is how SPJIMR uses top notch management knowledge to give back to the society as well .Placement statistics are reliable since they are audited by a government body. Faculty is world class. Our in-house faculty fly out for guest lectures and we also fly in some professors from colleges abroad (Europe, America, and Japan) to teach us. All in all, strength in diversity is our biggest success story.

So far it is very good and above expectations

SPJIMR lags in basic Infrastructure required for a good MBA college. There is the dearth of rooms during placements, hostels are 3 seaters, hostel mess is not up to the mark, etc. A new academic block is already under construction with world class facilities. Open auditoriums can add spark to the dull life here. Common hostels for boys and girls make the hostel life more lively. College professors are the best you can find in this field and can be easily compared to those in IIM - A B C or L. Strength of SPJAIN lies in the profile of the students. The basic process of admission at SPJAIN ensures that the quality of students is of paramount importance to the institute. The fee is quite nominal compared to other B-schools. Overall I think that my decision to opt for this institute is worth it and it will add a brand to my life.

SPJIMR, one of the top ten b-schools in the country, is all about the Bhawan's legacy. Our college lies inside the Bhawan's Campus. Further infrastructure development activities to expand the academic block are underway. Additionally, the college is implementing several measures to improve corporate exposure like organizing interactive events with company officials. It is also a cultural center with all major festivals like Eid, Ganesh Chaturthi being celebrated with gusto by participants and faculty alike. They add to the Spartan experience. Placement opportunities for Marketing and IM specializations are marginally better. The hostels are very well equipped and maintained in comparison to many others with good disciplinary practices. We have exceptional faculty members. The student crowd is diverse and very supportive of each other. The college fees are relatively higher due to the inclusion of GFT costs.

The campus of SPJIMR is a bit small; but we do have well-equipped study rooms, library, playgrounds and smaller rooms but well-maintained hostels. Being at the heart of the industrial capital of the country, SPJIMR has to offer a wide variety of corporate sessions, seminars and guest lectures on different topics. For me, college life is all about the people I spend my 2 years with. The student crowd was very diverse and very talented, which was a great learning experience in itself. By having very good placements and many non-academic activities, SPJIMR is affordable.

The college experience is wonderful. After possessing three years of experience, I feel that SP Jain was the correct choice do pursue MBA.The courses are well structured, case studies and the examples used in classes are mostly localised but the thoughts are global which makes enable to relate with the current business perspective. My peers are from diverse backgrounds which makes it a nice mix to study under. The professors are mostly good, the administration isn’t very good.
