SWAYAM NPTEL exams for upcoming sessions are scheduled to be in June and September months. SWAYAM certification exams for January 2026 semester will be conducted on June 17,18,19, 20 and 21, 2026. NPTEL exams for January-April 2026 session is over and the exams for the next session are scheduled from September 19, 2026.

Enrolment for NPTEL courses for the July 2026 session will start from May 22, 2026. Candidates interested in enrolling in SWAYAM NPTEL courses can register till July 27, 2026 (for 4-week and 8-week courses) and August 17, 2026 (for 12 weeks, 4 weeks (SET 2), and 8 weeks (SET 2) courses).

How to Register for SWAYAM NPTEL Certification Exam 2026?
To apply for NPTEL SWAYAM exams, candidates have to visit the official website and register themselves for the course they want to apply for.
Here are the steps to follow for SWAYAM exam registration:
Visit the official website - exams.nta.nic.in/swayam
Click on the ‘New Registration’ tab for the SWAYAM January 2026 semester
Read all the instructions carefully and click on the proceed button.
Fill out the required details to create an account, and generate a user ID and password
Login with registered credentials to complete the application form; fill in personal details, contact information, educational qualifications, and select your courses
Select your preferred exam center cities as per your convenience
Upload scanned images of the required documents - photograph and signature
Pay the required examination fee using online payment methods (credit card/debit card/net banking/UPI).
Submit the final application form and download or print the confirmation page for future reference

Course and Exam Registration Fee
Enrolling in NPTEL courses is free. However, candidates have to pay Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 based on the choice of course for NPTEL exams.
For NTA SWAYAM exams 2026, candidates are required to pay Rs 750 per course and Rs 600 per course for additional Course(s). Candidates belonging to Gen-EWS / OBC-(NCL)/ SC/ST/PwD category have to pay Rs 500 per course and Rs 400 per course.
