About BHU PET 2019

The Banaras Hindu University will be conducting BHU PET 2019 tentatively in second or third week of May. The BHU Postgraduate Entrance Tests (PET) is conducted for admission to various postgraduate courses like LLM, Mass Communication, M.Com, MCA, MA in Economics etc offered by the University. The admissions to the mentioned above courses will be done based on the marks secured in BHU PET 2019. Along with the merit in BHU PET 2019, availability of seats in that particular course for which the candidate has applied and fulfillment of eligibility criteria will also play a key role in the admission process. Also, candidates must be aware that courses under BHU PET are divided into categories such as ‘General’, ‘Professional’, ‘Special’ and ‘Vocational Courses’. There are certain courses which are also offered in Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Barkachha, (RGSC) Mirzapur, Mahila Mahavidyalaya, BHU (MMV) and the Colleges admitted to the Privileges of the University in the city namely, Vasant Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Kamachha (VKM); Arya Mahila Post Graduate College, Chetganj (AMPGC); DAV Post Graduate College, Ausanganj (DAVPGC) and Vasanta College for Women, Rajghat (VCW).

BHU PET 2019 Important Dates

Candidates can check below BHU PET 2019 eligibility criteria -

For SC/ST category candidates- there is no requirement for minimum percentage of marks in the aggregate in the qualifying examinations. However, candidates must have passed the qualifying examination and appeared BHU PET 2019. 

For OBC and PwD candidates- There will be a relaxation of 5% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination in to general candidates.

BHU PET Economics

To appear for BHU PET 2019 Economics, candidates will have to meet the following BHU PET 2019 eligibility criteria for Economics as prescribed by the authorities:

Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have passed B.A (Hons.)/B.A/B.Sc (Hons)/B.Sc under at least 10+2+3 pattern.

Qualifying Marks: Candidates must have, in an aggregate, a minimum of 50% marks including all subjects studied in the qualifying examination. However, excluding those subjects where only passing marks are required and which do not contribute to the total in the final (degree) marksheet.

Qualifying Subjects: Candidates must ensure that they have studied the subject in which admission is sought in all the three years at the undergraduate level.

BHU PET M.Com

Given below eligibility criteria of BHU PET 2019 M.Com need to meet by the candidates to appear for the entrance exam:

Qualifying Exam: Must have passed B.Com (Hons.)/ B.Com./B.Com.(Hons.)-FMM under at least (10+2+3) pattern 

Qualifying Marks: Candidates must have in an aggregate a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination.

BHU PET LLM

Candidates appearing for BHU PET 2019 LLM will have to meet the given below eligibility criteria. 

Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have passed 3-Year LL.B. after Graduation under at least 10+2+3 pattern. Also, if a candidate has passed five years LL.B. under 10+2+5 pattern is also eligible for the entrance exam.

Qualifying Marks: Candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in qualifying examination.

BHU PET Mass Communication

To appear for BHU PET 2019 mass communication candidates need to meet the given below eligibility criteria. The mentioned below eligibility criteria of BHU PET mass communication is prescribed by the authorities. 

Qualifying Examination: Candidates appearing for the entrance exam must have graduate degree in any discipline under at least 10+2+3 pattern. 

Qualifying Marks: Must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in the qualifying examination. 

BHU PET MCA

Mentioned below is the prescribed eligibility criteria of BHU PET MCA 2019 which candidates will have to meet to appear for the entrance exam. 

Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have Bachelor’s Degree under at least 10+2+3 pattern in any discipline. 

Qualifying Marks: Must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in qualifying examination. 

Compulsory Subject: Candidates must have Mathematics as one of the compulsory subjects at either Intermediate or graduation level or equivalent examination.

BHU PET 2019 application form will be available in online mode only. Candidates can access the application form tentatively from the third week of January. To appear for BHU PET 2019, it is a must for candidates to fill and submit the application form within the given time frame. Along with the application form, candidates will be required to pay the application fee of BHU PET 2019. For the reference of candidates, below are the steps to be followed while filling the application form of BHU PET 2019.

How to fill BHU PET Application Form 2019

Step 1- Get Register- Candidates first have to visit the application form link and register by selecting the course they like to apply for. Once that is done, candidates will have to enter details like email-ID, password (6 alphanumeric characters), date of birth, gender, parent’s name, address and mobile number. 

Step 2 -Validation of Registration – Once all the above-mentioned details are submitted, candidates will see the confirmation message on their screen. Also, they will receive the confirmation message at their registered email address and mobile number along with the validation code. Click on this activation link and continue filling the application form of BHU PET 2019

Step 3 -Application Form Status- Fill the application form by entering all the requisite details like personal, academic information, Aadhaar details. 

Step 4 -Upload Scanned Images- After filling the application form, upload the scanned images of photograph and signature in the prescribed format and dimensions. 

Step 5 – Enter Test Centre- Candidates will have to enter the exam centres in order of their preference. They will be able to enter 5 exam centres at a time from the drop-down list.  

Step 6 -Submission of Application Form-  Review and check all the details mentioned in the application form and submit it.

Step 7 – Application Fee Payment- Lastly, candidates will have to pay the requisite application fee either in online or offline mode. In case candidate opts for offline mode, they have to take a print of the Challan from the entrance test portal. The challan will carry details of the candidate, Banaras Hindu University bank account details in which fee will be deposited and the exact amount to be deposited. Vist the nearby HDFC Bank and deposit the fees.

Mode of Payment: Candidates can pay the application fees in the given below mode:

Online Payment: Credit/debit card, netbanking can be used for online payment. 

Offline Payment: The application fees can be also paid in Cash through “Challan” in any branch of HDFC Bank. 

Step 8- Take a Printout of Filled in Application- Once they have submitted the application form and fees, take a printout of application form of BHU PET 2019 for future reference. 

Note: Candidates do not need to send the application form or any other documents to the University.

BHU PET LLM

For LLM course, BHU PET 2019 will have one question paper which will carry 120 multiple choice questions on Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Law of Crimes, Law of Torts,  Law of Contracts, Public International Law, Environmental Law, Hindu Law Indian Evidence Act and Muslim Law.

2 hours will be given to a candidate to complete the entrance test which will be of 360 marks in total.

The paper will be help both in English and Hindi. 

BHU PET Mass Communication

BHU PET MCA

For MCA course offered by the University, BHU PET 2019 will have one paper for the duration of 2 hours in offline mode. Candidates who will be appearing for the entrance test, can check the detailed exam pattern of BHU MCA 2019 below:

  • Number of Sections- There will be two sections-  Mathematical Aptitude (nearly 80 questions), and Analytical and Logical Reasoning (around 40 questions).

Banaras Hindu University will release the admit card of BHU PET 2019 in online mode around one week prior to the date of entrance test. Candidates will be informed about the issue of admit card by sending email or SMS on the registered communication details. To download BHU PET 2019 admit card, candidates will have to log-in using their user -id generated at the time of filling the application form. In case candidates are unable to download the admit card till 3 days before the date of entrance test, they should immediately contact the exam conducting authorities.  

The admit card will carry details like name of the candidate, exam centre address, course applied for, gender etc. Therefore candidates are advised to check on the details furnished on BHU PET admit card 2019 carefully, before downloading it. If a candidate finds any discrepancy, should contact the Office of the Controller of Examinations immediately. 

After downloading the admit card take a print out of it and affixed a passport size photograph (same passport size photograph which has been used for application form) in the space provided on the printout of the admit card under self-attestation.

The admit card of BHU PET 2019 is an important document. Without the admit card, candidates will not be allowed to appear for the entrance test. Not only this, candidates will have to preserve the BHU PET 2019 admit card safe till the end of admission process as it will be required during counselling as well.

BHU PET 2019 Result will be announced in online mode for all the candidates who will appear for the entrance exam. To check the result candidates will have to enter their roll number. The result will carry details like marks obtained in the entrance test, qualifying status etc. Along with result, candidates will be mailed overall merit and merit within the category at their registered email address. Not only this, SMS will also be sent to the registered mobile number.   

Inter-Se Ranking

In case where one or more candidates get equal marks, the mentioned below will be followed for inter-se ranking:

1. Candidates with higher aggregate percentage of marks at the Qualifying Examination will be given preference while preparing merit list. 

Note: In case of MA in Mass Communication, the inter-se-ranking will be decided based on the percentage of marks in aggregate at graduation level.

2. If aggregate percentages of the marks at the Qualifying Examination is also equal, the preference will be given to a candidate who has higher marks in the concerned subject (wherever applicable). 

Note: in case of MCA, if the aggregate percentages of the marks at qualifying examination are also equal, Mathematics marks at Bachelor’s level will be considered first.  If too many candidates have equal marks in Mathematics then the candidates having higher marks will be given preference, and if these Mathematics marks are also equal, then at Intermediate or +2 level marks will be considered.  Lastly, candidates having Mathematics at +2 level but not at Bachelor‟s level will be considered. 

3. If candidates still have equal marks then, candidate senior in age will be given preference.

Once the offline entrance test, BHU PET 2019, concludes, the authorities will release the provisional answer key in online mode for all the sets. The BHU PET 2019 answer key will carry the correct responses of the questions asked during the entrance test. Matching the responses with answer key will help candidates to calculate their expected scores before the result is declared. In case, candidates finds any discrepancy in the answer key, they can raise the objections against it along with the documented proof. Candidates who will raise the objections will have to mention their name, course, roll number, course code, serial number of questions, question booklet no along with their key(s). After consideration of the objections, a final answer key will be released by the authorities. 

The authorities will conduct the BHU PET counselling 2019 procedure for admissions to various courses both in online and offline mode. However, all the eligible candidates will be issued counselling call letter before the counselling commences. Candidates will have to download the BHU PET 2019 counselling letter and take a print out of it, before the process commences. Mentioned below are the steps that will be involved in BHU PET counselling 2019 process:

Steps Involved in BHU PET 2019 Counselling

Step1- Online Entry of Preferences/Choices- Candidates will have log-in to their portal and fill the course choice, location preference and type of seats they want. While allotting the seats, these entries will be taken into consideration. Candidates apply for MCA course, location preference will not be able. 

Step 2- Report to Counselling Venue For Verification- Candidates will have to report at the counselling venue on the prescribed date and time mentioned on their counselling call letter. Along with counselling call letter candidates will be required to carry all the requisite documents to the venue. On reaching the venue, candidates will have to verify the documents. Further, they will be allotted seats based on their option entry and merit. 

Step 3- Payment of Academic Fees- Once the candidate is allotted seat, they will be issued provisional seat allotment letter. To confirm their seat candidates will have to pay the requisite academic fees either through credit/debit card, payment gateway available at the venue or through cash directly. 

Step 4- Submission of Payment Proof- Next day of the counselling of BHU PET 2019, candidates will have to submit the receipt of payment proof either at the counselling venue or centre incharge. In case the candidate has made the online payment, they will not be required to do so. If candidates fail to submit proof of payment next day, their admission will be cancelled. 

Subsequent rounds of BHU PET 2019 counselling will be held till the vacant seats are filled.
