explain phenoxide resonance structure?
Hi Aspirant,
The number of resonating structures in Phenoxide ion is 5. It has non-equivalent resonance structures in which the negative charge is less effectively de-localised over less electronegative carbon atom and one oxygen atom. If you go through the structure of the phenoxide resonance, you may notice ii,iii and iv ,less electronegative carbon atom carries negative ion . I think this information helped .
Thank you.
