Hello, I'm a commerce student currently in 12th grade without maths as a subject. I aspire to pursue Economics but i am finding it challenging to identify colleges, whether private or government, that accept non- maths commerce students for economics programm.
Without math, you absolutely cannot pursue an honors degree in economics. Ironically, you can pursue honors in economics without studying ecology in 12th grade, but not without mathematics.
The reason is that you must study the math principles from 11th and 12th grade in order to pass the first-year core paper, Mathematical Methods in Economics. Additionally, second- and third-year students take Econometrics, which, as you are already aware, blends economics with mathematics.
Under such circumstances, math becomes crucial for this course. Even if you didn't study economics in your 12th grade, you may still succeed in it if you put in the necessary effort. Economics teaches you the fundamentals that are needed in later years.
Hello,
Pursuing an economics degree as a commerce student without maths in 12th grade is very much possible, as most government and private universities and colleges in India offer undergraduate programs in Economics without insisting on maths. Some of the well known institutions which take non maths commerce students for Economics, include Delhi University (DU), BHU, and JNU. Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce, Pune, is also one of the private colleges offering Economics without Maths.
Some may have individual college eligibility requirements to be taken into consideration by non-maths students. You may search for Economics colleges offering the course, filter their eligibility criteria from the career360 website.
