Scoring 80% or more in the CBSE Class 10 board exam is absolutely achievable, even if Maths and Science are your weaker subjects, as long as you follow a smart and balanced preparation strategy. Since English and Social Science are your strengths, you should use them to build a strong score cushion while steadily improving your weaker areas.
First, focus on maximising marks in English and Social Science. These subjects are more scoring and predictable. For English, practise reading comprehension daily, revise grammar rules thoroughly, and prepare literature answers with proper structure, keywords, and quotations. Writing answers neatly with clear introductions and conclusions can fetch you extra marks. In Social Science, NCERT is the key. Learn answers in points, revise maps regularly, and practise previous years’ questions. If prepared well, you can aim for 85–90% or more in these two subjects, which will significantly boost your overall percentage.
For Maths, do not try to master everything at once. Start by identifying chapters that are relatively easy and scoring, such as Statistics, Probability, Linear Equations, Surface Areas and Volumes, and Arithmetic Progressions. Practise these chapters repeatedly until you are confident. Even if some chapters feel difficult, basic formula-based questions are often asked, so memorising formulas and practising standard questions can still help you score decently. Regular practice is the only way to improve Maths, even if it is just 1–1.5 hours daily.
In Science, divide your time wisely among Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Biology is usually more theory-based and scoring, so focus on diagrams, definitions, and NCERT lines. In Chemistry, concentrate on Chemical Reactions, Acids-Bases-Salts, Metals and Non-metals, and Carbon Compounds, as these chapters are frequently asked. For Physics, focus on numericals from Electricity, Magnetism, and Light, and learn derivations and formulas properly. NCERT examples and exercise questions are very important in Science.
Make a realistic study timetable that gives extra time to Maths and Science but still allows regular revision of English and Social Science. Solving previous 10 years’ CBSE question papers and sample papers is extremely important, as it helps you understand the exam pattern and manage time better. Try to analyse your mistakes after each paper instead of just checking marks.
Lastly, revision and presentation matter a lot in board exams. Write answers neatly, underline key points, draw diagrams where needed, and manage your time well during the exam. Stay consistent rather than studying for long hours irregularly. With focused preparation, strong performance in English and Social Science, and steady improvement in Maths and Science, scoring 80% or more in CBSE Class 10 is definitely within your reach.
