Home state quota rank is a rank assigned to the students of a particular state who have domicile certificate of that particular state.
For example- X lives in Bihar and Y lives outside Bihar. Let the total no. Of students appeared in jee mains from bihar is 43000 and no. Of total other state students is 1147000. Let the total no. Of seats in NIT Patna is 1000. Person X's rank among the 43000 students will be considered. But for Y the rank among 1147000 students will be considered. The first 500 students from each list (home state and other state) will be selected for NIT Patna.
So it is clear that the competition in home state is much Less than the other state.

Hi dear.
There is no state rank in jee mains.There is only AIR .The admissions in IITs ,NITs and government colleges are done on the basis of All india Rank only.
The category rank is considered for the reserved categories.

Sir I have got 343632 as CRL and 21737 as SC rank. I have applied for josaa but two rounds over I have not got any seat. I have not applied anywhere thinking I will get in nit and iiit.Can I get seat.My percentile is 71. Please advice
