EWS ( Economically weeker section ) is the new reservation quota introduced by UGC. According to the law any unreserved candidate whose family income is less than 8 lacks per annum and poseses less than 5 acres of agricultural land is eligible for this reservation.
Now definetly it will help students, so among 50 % of general category student weeker section among them will get first priority. So if there are 100 seats avaiable 10 seats will be reserved for EWS students.
This year to qualify for JEE ADVANCED a candidate needs to get a minimum of 86 percentile regarless of category.
