The first thing you need to understand is the exam pattern. The UPSC exam has three stages: the preliminary exam, mains exam, and the personal test (Interview).

Current affairs is as important, so try reading newspapers daily and watch news to stay updated on the current events. you also need to choose an optional subject wisely based on you interest and strength.

Solve previous year question papers and the mock tests and interviews to have a hold over the exam and the interview.
For interview, you can also review you detailed application form (DAF) for the questions are often drawn from you educational background.
