In PCL3F2 is the axial fluorine bond longer or the equitorial chlorine one?
Hello!!!
Hope you are doing great!!!!
Fluorine is more electronegative than chlorine. So P-F bond is shorter than P-Cl bond, more the electronegativity more will be the force of attraction. So shorter bondlength. As fluorine's are located in the axial position, hence these P-F bonds which are actually axial bonds are shorter than that of equatorial bonds.
Hope it helps you!!!!
