Structure and function of fertilisation
Fertilization is the process by which two haploid gametes, one from the maternal side and one from the paternal side, fuse together to form a diploid zygote. The zygote then developes into embryo and then, into an individual. The steps of fertilization can be divided as- 1. Sperm preparation, 2. Sperm -egg recognition and binding, 3. Fusion, 4. Fusion of nucleus of sperm and egg and zygote formation.
The phenomena is important for the the continuity of a race.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!
