In 1984, the Institute of Road and Transport Technology (IRTT) was founded. It is managed by the Tamil Nadu Government's All Transport Corporations. The Institute is situated on a 350-acre property surrounded by natural greenery. It creates a welcoming environment for Technical Education. The Erode Railway Station is 15 kilometres away, while the NH-47 between Bhavani and Chithode is half a mile away. The Institute provides seven undergraduate engineering degree programmes in a variety of areas, as well as three graduate programmes: M.E. structural engineering, M.E. computer science and engineering, and M.E. computer applications. The Institute offers outstanding infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, a library, and faculty members that are well skilled.

Near Vasavi College PO, Erode, Tamil Nadu, is where the Institute of Road and Transport Technology is located. The college is around 15 km from Erode Junction Railway Station. The college is 95 kilometres from Coimbatore International Airport. The institute is about 10 kilometres from TNSTC Uratchikottai Depot.
