Why BH3 is electrophile???plzz give me answer
Dear candidate,
Electrophiles are positively charges or electron deficient species which gets attracted towards negative charge and they are also the one who readily accept the electron pair now, to accept electron pair you it must have atleast one empty orbital to accept the lone pair, the hybridization of BF3 is sp2 it still has one empty p orbital so,BF3 uses this empty p orbital to accept the electron pair therefore acts as electrophile. This is why BF3 is an electrophile.
Hope this information is helpful.
Hello,
Electrophiles are actually the atoms and molecules known to be electron deficient and that carry a partial positive charge and will seek an electron pair to form a covalent bond. In BH3 there is an empty p orbital that is why it is also electron deficient and called as Electrophile.
Hope it will be helpful for you.
Thank you.
Hello!!
Definitely one can get confused by thinking Since boron is more electronegative, wouldn't it attract more electrons therefore making it slightly negative (rather than positive) charge?
but boron has empty p orbital which is the reason why it accepts electron.
Thanks
