Student Exchange Programmes have been established with leading schools in Europe, North America, South America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region. Each year the Institute selects eligible second year students to spend one academic term at premier management institutes around the world with which the Institute has forged partnerships. Similarly, students from the corresponding institutions spend an academic term at IIMA.
it provides varied learning opportunities to students and help in their exposure too.
hope it helps
all the best.
Hi,
Instead of me telling this as I never studied at IIMA, I found a really good answer online which would summarise the whole life at IIMA by an IIMA alumnus.
"What is it like to study at IIMA...well to say the least, it is a life changing experience. The first year at IIMA is tough, it will probably unlike anything you would have faced before. To describe a typical day, this is what it looks like:
We had 3 lectures everyday starting 8:45 am every morning running till 1:10 pm. The professors are very strict about in-class discipline and being on time. The doors close at 8:45 am sharp, and even if you are late by half a minute you aren't allowed in. Invariably in the first year, we used to have surprise quizzes twice/thrice a week. The quiz notice was put right outside the mess, and if it was one of those lucky days it meant you pretty much skipped your lunch. Head straight to the dorms, to prepare for the quiz at 2:30 pm. After the quiz, get back to your dorms around 3:30pm and crash..get a few hours of sleep. Get up around 5:30 pm and start preparing for next day's classes. IIMA has a complete case-based curriculum. We as students were required to study the theory on our own + solve the class. A good preparation for a lecture required about 2.5-3hrs...so in all about 8-9 hrs of study required for the next day's classes. On top of that we had group submissions & assignments which took up another couple of hours. So on an average day you would probably be up till 4-4:30 in the morning. Sounds daunting, and a lot of us used to flip at the thought of it before we entered IIMA..but you get so used to it..that you start enjoying it.
Coming to the professors at IIMA, without a doubt the smartest people I have ever met. Each one of the professors I had were so passionate about the courses they taught...only one word comes to my mind when I think of professors like Prof Ajay Pandey/Prof Seb Morris/Prof JR Varma...they were gods! But more than anything, what impacts you is the company of the people you are with. You batchmates and peers are the sharpest and brightest people you would come across...it is such a humbling experience.
How IIMA changes you as a person - well, the answer to question is subjective and it depends from person to person. As for me, IIMA taught me the discipline, business ethics, value of hard work, humility, and a never ever EVER say die attitude. IIMA has endless amounts of knowledge and opportunities to offer, depends on how much you are able to take out of it. Some people hated the cut throat competition, some people relished it. But more than anything else, IIMA builds character. At the end of two years you may come out on the bottom or the top, it doesn't matter. What matters is you will know what you're made of. And all these lessons will be apparent and visible in whatever you do, and this is what will make you stand apart..compared to grads from IIM B/C/D/XYZ or whatever.
It has been almost 3 years since I graduated and not a day goes by when I don't think about the time I spent at IIMA...how privileged I was to be a part of the legacy and how I try to live up to the name every single day. "
Hope it helps.
Hi,
The eligibility for applying into IIMA is as follows:
The candidate must hold a bachelor's degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in case of the candidate belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category, this is relaxed to 45%), of any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. The percentage obtained by the candidate in the bachelor's degree would be based on the practice followed by the institution/university from where the candidate has obtained the degree. In case of the candidate being awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the equivalence certified by the institution/university from where they have obtained the bachelor's degree. In case the institution/university does not have any scheme for converting the CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by IIMA by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant by 100.
A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. Such a candidate must produce a certificate from the principal/head of the department/registrar/director of the institution/university certifying that the candidate is currently in the final year/is awaiting final results and has obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category) based on latest available grades/marks. Such a candidate, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2022 from the principal/head of the department/registrar/director of the institution/university (issued on or before June 30, 2022) stating that they have completed all the requirements (the result may, however, be awaited) for obtaining the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate. Their admission will be confirmed only when the candidate submits the mark-sheet and a certificate of having passed the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification referred to in the certificate issued by the principal/head of the department/registrar/director of the institution/university with at least 50% marks (45% in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category). It is mandatory for a final year student, who is provisionally admitted, to submit the mark-sheet and degree certificate of the final year bachelor's degree examination held on or before June 30, 2022 (including supplementaries, if any), to be eligible for admission to the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) batch 2022-24.

Hi,
Summer placements are primarily for the internship duration once you finish your 1st year. This is around a 3 month period. You get a stipend for this duration. It has ranged upto a few lakhs as well. Final placements are for full time offers.
Final placements are far better than summer placements. There are a lot more companies and a lot more offers made by companies. Summer placements are more biased towards candidates from top schools in India such as the IITs, NITs, BITS, SRCC, etc. Most of the best offers go to such candidates. Many of the companies prefer to take candidates with relevant experience as well. The final placements are like the great equalizer. Some of the best candidates would have already got offers via PPOs. The companies which come during summer placements also prefer to come during final placement to recruit more number of candidates.
Stipends offered in summer placements are usually lower than the salaries offered during final placements for the full time offers. And yes. Most of the companies visit twice. For interns and for full time employees. Some candidates convert the internships to pre placement offers.
Hope it helps.
Hey student,
The short answer of the your question is no as the lectures are really important and will not be repeated for anyone and it will be the students loss that he sleeps in between during the lesson and not of the institute.
All the best student,
hope this helps you

Hello Aspirant!
There are various reasons which make IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bombay better than IIM Calcutta. One of the massive advantages IIM-A , IIM-B had was its proximity to Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Bangalore, all three economic powerhouses. Whereas IIM-C, although older and located in Kolkata, had to deal with the distance problem.
There was an alumni reunion in IIM-A just before Christmas, when the batch of ’92 descended upon campus. Out of the 180 in the batch, about 150 turned up for the reunion. Which not happens with full ledge in IIM-C. But all IIM's are great to go and they lead many students to make better future for our nation.
