IIM Lucknow admissions are primarily entrance-based. Indian Institute of Management Lucknow offers admissions to PGP, PGP-SM, PGP-ABM, PGPWE, IPMX, bMBA, FPM and EFPM programmes. IIM Lucknow MBA admissions are done based on CAT scores, followed by Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI).

IIM Lucknow admissions offer a Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) course at the doctoral level. The duration of the course is 4 years. Teachers are really good and helpful. The course is relevant to the industry. The things which we learn in MBA will come into handy after 4-5 years of MBA. Exams are difficult we have relative grading pattern as the grades are completely based on the batch performance and pass percentage is 99%. .

Hello Shagufta,

No, you cannot directly apply to IIM Lucknow if you haven't attempted CAT which is an exam of national importance.

Every IIM accepts CAT score and then proceed it's application process. So, there's no chance of getting directly admitted in any of the IIMs without appearing in CAT for MBA.

I am not sure if I want to be admitted to MIT-WPU Pune for MBA. One of my friends suggested me to take admission in a good government college. While searching I found IIM Lucknow. what to do? MIT-WPU or IIM Lucknow?

MIT-WPU and IIM Lucknow are quite different institutions offering the MBA programme. While MIT-WPU is a private university offers an MBA through its WPU School of Business, IIM Lucknow is a public institution established by the Government of India, and is recognised as the 'Institute of National Importance' . Getting admission to the MBA programme of IIM Lucknow is comparatively more difficult than getting admission in MIT-WPU .

However, given below are some of the points of differentiation between MIT-WPU and IIM Lucknow based on which you can make a decision:

I've got 75% in 10th 87% in 12th & 75% in degree (B.sc) probably if i can expect a call from iim Lucknow 90%ile in cat

See, your academics are the most problematic things, as with 75%, 87% in schooling (10th and 12th), and 75% in your graduation, you are in quite disadvantageous position. And since you are in B.Sc, you'll be counted in the same bucket as engineers, you you'll get no diversity points as well.

The best thing will be that you re-attempt CAT after getting some work experience, because workex is the only thing which can counter all the negative things in your CV. All the best!
