Gujarat Maritime University is a UGC recognised state private university situated in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and was established in 2017. This specialised institution is devoted to the teaching of maritime law and international trade law. Located on the GNLU Campus, Attalika Avenue Knowledge Corridor, Koba, GMU was established under the UGC (University Grants Commission). Despite its youth, the university is already beginning to deliver quality education and focus on specific areas of law. GMU has a variety of services that supplement student lifestyle and academic needs. 

The library of GMU is also open throughout the day and night, making sure students have all-day and all-night access to literature. Both male and female students can avail well-furnished and fine hostel accommodations with facilities like Wi-Fi internet, a gymnasium, and medical facilities, etc. For healthcare requirements, a doctor and a nurse from this trust visit the hostels daily, and in case of emergency, there are specialists and Apollo Hospital available. Gujarat Maritime University offers a total of 32 courses. Gujarat Maritime University offers two LLM programmes: LLM Maritime Law and LLM International Trade Law, with 30 intakes for each programme. Also, for its Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programmes, the same specialisation options are also available. The other courses are Ph.D (Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Maritime Law, etc.), M.Sc, M.Tech. (Dredging, Naval and Ocean Technology, and Marine Biotechnology), PGP, MA (Maritime History, Ecology, and Geography), B.Tech (Naval and Ocean Technology and Marine Engineering), BBA, MBA (Marine tourism, Maritime Human Resource Management, and Shipping Trade and Finance), and B.Sc. Such programmes are intended to address the increasing need for distinct legal skills in maritime and international business areas.

For any course offered in Gujarat Maritime University, admissions are selective, and geared towards candidates with passion for both the maritime industry and international trade law. CLAT PG or Common Law Admission Test for LLM is one of the exams which aspirants can take to get admission in postgraduate programs in GMU. This is a national level entrance examination and is more popular and contributes more to establishment credibility of GMU admission.
