NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam is an examination held nationwide for admission to medical or dental courses in India. Those students who want to pursue courses like MBBS (Bachelor of medicine, bachelor of surgery), BDS (Bachelor of dental surgeries), BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic medicine and surgeries), BHMS (Bachelor of homeopathic medicine). It was formerly known as AIPMT or All India Pre Medical Test. It is currently conducted by NTA or National Testing agency. Around 13k-19k candidates seat in this exam every year. It is the largest exam in India according to the number of candidate registered. The exam has a high difficulty level and is conducted for admission to around 54,000 medical/dental seats in the country.

The Medical Council of India, as published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary on December 21, 2010, and February 15, 2012, and the Dental Council of India, as published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary on May 31, 2012, respectively, announced the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) as a new qualifying cum entrance examination under the "Regulations on Graduate Medical Education 1997 and BDS Course Regulations, 2007." The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the Government of India, and the Medical Council of India have introduced NEET (MCI). NEET has been implemented for courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
