Hello Vicky,
The scope after engineering in production and industrial engineering depends on what you want to do after GATE. EITHER YOU WANT A JOB IN PSU’S OR YOU WANT TO PURSUE HIGHER STUDIES BY GOING IN IIT’S, IISC’S, ETC..
Now take on both the options one by one.
If you want to get a job just after ur B. TECH in various PSU’S then
- I would say that it would be better to give GATE through mechanical stream as the syllabus of production and industrial is somewhat same and also there are more vaccancies in various PSU’S through mechanical stream.
- Regarding list of PSU’S recruiting from production
- Bharat Earth Movers Limited
- National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)
- Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)
- Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC)
- Airport Authority of India (AAI)
- Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)
- Engineers India Limited (EIL)
Now considering the second option.
- In this case i would like to suggest you to give GATE through production stream. As you will be more familiar with the syllabus as you have done B. Tech from this only branch.
- So it will be easier for you to get a good rank and take admission in the top colleges such as IIT’S, IISC, IISER.
- NITIE also offer good placements and is at part with other IIT's. NITIE runs an Industrial Management program through GATE which is of very high demand.
In all these colleges i would suggest you to take IISC BANGALORE.
