Considering the fees structure, Chennai Institute of Technology offers good value for money. Students gain access to decent infrastructure, academic guidance, placement training, and exposure that make the overall investment worthwhile.
Campus Life Campus life at Chennai Institute of Technology is lively and engaging. Numerous clubs, technical societies, cultural events, and competitions are conducted regularly, allowing students to explore interests beyond academics.
No, that's it
Chennai Institute of Technology (CIT) provides modern infrastructure designed for professional readiness. The campus features smart classrooms equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi and interactive smart boards, ensuring a seamless digital learning experience. Its library is well-stocked with over 30,000 volumes and offers extensive digital access to international journals. The college is particularly noted for its Centres of Excellence (CoEs), such as the KUKA Robotics Lab and the New Energy Lab (featuring 300 KW solar panels). These facilities provide students with hands-on access to industry-grade equipment like CNC machines and industrial automation tools. Laboratories across departments, including VLSI and Mechanical, are regularly updated with current software and high-configuration hardware. Hostel facilities are decent, providing 24/7 internet, laundry services, and gym access, though feedback on food varies. For recreation, the campus includes sports courts for basketball, volleyball, and cricket. While the 20-acre campus is compact and located in a remote area, the institution provides a massive fleet of over 100 buses to bridge the distance. Overall, CIT offers a specialized environment with sufficient technical equipment, though some students find the campus size smaller compared to other major institutions in Chennai.
CIT Chennai is ideal for students prioritizing technical expertise and employability. Most students choose CIT for its Centres of Excellence (CoEs), which bridge the gap between textbook theory and industrial application in fields like Robotics, AI, and VLSI. The quality of teaching is generally high, with faculty described as supportive and approachable. Many professors hold PhDs and actively guide students through research papers and hackathons. However, the teaching style is intense; the college follows a rigorous University Preparation Class (UPC) system, where students practice potential exam questions daily. While this ensures a pass percentage near 98%, it can feel academically demanding. The curriculum is highly relevant, often updated with "Value Added Courses" tailored to current market trends. Training starts from the first year, focusing on coding, soft skills, and foreign languages (Japanese/German). You will likely feel industry-ready by your third year due to mandatory internships and project-based learning. The environment is competitive and discipline-heavy, but if your goal is a "Super Dream" placement (₹10LPA+), the academic grind at CIT is a calculated and worthwhile investment.
Placements are the strongest pillar of Chennai Institute of Technology (CIT). The college consistently achieves a placement rate of over 95%, with many students securing multiple offers. The training starts as early as the first year, focusing on coding, aptitude, and soft skills through dedicated placement cells. In the 2024-2025 season, the highest package reached an impressive ₹51 LPA, offered by a top-tier tech firm. The average package remains competitive, hovering around ₹7 LPA. CIT is particularly famous for its "Super Dream" offers (above ₹10 LPA), which a significant portion of the top-performing students secure. Top recruiters include global giants like Amazon, Microsoft, Cisco, ZOHO, and HCL. Beyond IT, the college maintains strong ties with core engineering companies through its specialized Centres of Excellence. The placement process is highly organized, though it can be rigorous, requiring students to maintain high CGPAs and participate in frequent mock interviews.
The annual cost for a B.E./B.Tech degree at Chennai Institute of Technology generally ranges between ₹1.5 Lakhs to ₹2.5 Lakhs for those entering through the TNEA counseling process. However, for students admitted under the Management Quota, the fees can be significantly higher, sometimes exceeding ₹3.5 Lakhs to ₹4 Lakhs per year, depending on the specialization. Additional costs include hostel fees (approx. ₹90,000–₹1,10,000) and transport charges. Regarding the "value for money," most students feel it is a worthwhile investment, primarily due to the exceptional return on investment (ROI) regarding placements. While the fees are higher than some government-aided colleges, the access to high-tech Centres of Excellence, specialized industrial training, and a chance at "Super Dream" offers (₹10 LPA+) justifies the expense for many.
Chennai Institute of Technology (CIT) features a campus designed for technical excellence rather than sprawling leisure. The best feature is undoubtedly its Centres of Excellence (CoEs). These specialized labs, partnered with giants like KUKA and Virtusa, allow students to work with industrial-grade robotics and AI tools, providing a professional atmosphere rarely found in undergraduate colleges. The campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled with modern, air-conditioned seminar halls and a well-equipped library. The worst features are the limited campus size (roughly 20 acres) and its remote location in Kundrathur. This distance makes commuting difficult for day scholars, though the college provides an extensive bus fleet. Additionally, the green cover is less compared to older institutions, and the environment can feel overly academic and "school-like" due to strict discipline. Student Activities: While academics dominate, students engage in high-level technical clubs, hackathons, and symposiums like "Dhruva." The college encourages participation in national robotics competitions and coding challenges. For sports, there are facilities for basketball, volleyball, and cricket. However, if you are looking for a vibrant, relaxed arts and culture scene, you might find CIT’s heavy focus on skill-building and placement preparation somewhat restrictive.
CIT Chennai is an excellent choice for students prioritizing career success. The Good: Placements are outstanding, with a 95% success rate and top packages reaching ₹51 LPA. You get hands-on experience in advanced labs for Robotics and AI, making you very competitive in the job market. The Bad: The campus is small and located in a remote area. Life here is academically intense with strict rules and frequent exams, leaving less time for fun.

Well of college infrasture it is quite small and compact but doesn't get in the way od academics. The facilities and equipments are sufficent and many center of excellence is there to ace your skills further. The college des have wifi but during class hours it doesn't really work well and every class is provided with smart board with is connected to some other source so wifi problem wouln't be an issue. Labs are provided with ethernet so no need to worry over internet connection. The food is hygenic as far as i heard from hostellers and living spaces are decent and comfortable.
Academics are pretty good , a mix of chill and rush. But,there is always exams every two weeks so you have to catch on real quick. The quality of education is much better compared to other colleges and the teacher do really put an effort o cmplete the portions. The curriculum is upto date and covers key subjects and its mostly based on job ready market so it reduces the anxiety about placements
Placements are the reason why i joined the college. The highest packade to get placed was 60+LPA and around 10+ people have placed for 50 LPA . The aluminis work in capegemini, autodesk, microsoft and some interns in Google. The college has 95.2 placement percentage and mostly high package is offeref to computer science aided students.
The college offers exclusive schlorships for students with high cutoff . Also it supports girls by exposing them to more schlorship offers with are available in amazon and more.. As of management side the fee is quite high but it is also decided based on individuals cutoff. yes ,i felt the money's worth from the college.
No ragging, fun filled, and focusing on academics and oprojects. They do conduct events to relieve students from academic pressure. Misconduct is taken seriously and punishment is given in accordance. Yes the teachers do support well and as of attentance it is taken very seriously as the college expects 100% attendance and allows only 3 leaves with prior permission. The location is kundrathur ,yes its safe and it can handle emergiencies.
I joined Chennai Institute of Technology thinking I would just attend lectures, take notes, pass exam. I walked in quite and unsure. Never pictured myself standing on a stage or speaking in front of a crowd. But here, things changed. CIT created an environment where every student is encouraged to rise, no matter how hesitant or hidden their voice might be. Here opportunities aren't reserved for the bold, they're created for everyone. CIT doesn't just give you knowledge, it gives you space to grow, room to try and freedom to be more than u thought you could be. Workshops, COE's, Competitions- they aren't just events here. They're invitations to step forward. And the faculty? They don't just teach- they uplift and believe. CIT just didn't shape my academics- It shaped how I see myself. I walked in quietly. I'm walking into my second year with a voice I never knew I had.
I'm studying Cyber Security because I'm interested in Ethical hacking. The quality of teaching is good with supportive teachers and practical learning. I LOVE THE ENVIRONMENT FOR LEARNING AND GROWING
The quality of placements is descent in my college. Around 80-90% of students get placed. almost most of our seniors got placed in cyber security. since it has less strength the demand for placements in cyber has been good
Yes, i feel im getting my moneys worth beacuase the teaching, faculties and placements support is good.
The college campus is clean and green with good infrastructure and labs.
Overall, its a good place to learn and grow!
College infrastructure is very average with least facilities and equipments. The classrooms, labs , sports centres are out dated . Coming to boys and girls hostels the rooms are good. But the food is very average not affordable.
Coming to academics. The quality of teaching is very good . The facility are very supportive and they encourage very much. The academic curriculum is updated every year which is really helpful for placements.
Coming to placements the quality of placement is very poor. 60% of the class were not got placed. The placement cell is very poor in getting companies. The average salary is 3.5lpa. the highest salary is 5.5lpa
Wi-Fi is good. Hostel is very pleasant to stay. Food is average at our college. College infrastructure is also an average one. Sports facilities are also available at our college. Anyone can join a sports club with their own interest. Different types of labs are available.
Our department has well-experienced professors. We follow the curriculum of Anna University regulations. The course curriculum is relevant. It makes students industry-ready. Scoring good marks in semester exams is not much difficult because we do enough practice before the final exams like preparatory classes.
Placements are better in our college. Top companies like TCS, CTS, Wipro, and Accenture are hiring their employees from our college. The highest salary package is INR 44 lacs off-campus. The lowest salary is INR 5 lacs per annum. Almost all students are placed in our college.

Hello,
Ratio for CSE is most likely boys: girls= 1/3 : 2/3. Girls mostly attempt for technical branch or core branch so it have comparatively more girls strength to non-technical branch like chemical engineering, civil, ME, food technology.
it may vary by some factor every year. Girls ratio will increase
