Coimbatore Institute of Technology, accredited by NAAC and founded in 1956 is an autonomous government body that offers different courses like BTech, MSc, ME, Ph.D., BE in various specializations. The college takes different admission processes for different streams.
Coimbatore Institute of Technology Admissions for UG and PG courses are done via entrance based exams. For BE aspirants, TNEA, which is a single-window counselling process, is conducted whereas a candidate has to appear for the TANCET or GATE exam for enrolling in CIT’s ME programme. The examination for the UG and PG courses,2020 have already been carried out in the month of June like every year and the exam results are declared on the website in the month of October. The application of the exam of both UG as well as PG courses are online and the students have to pay an application fee. For filling the application, you have to follow the following steps -

The Institute offers 5 specializations in BE and two specializations in B.Tech. There are 600 seats available for the B.E. course, which are filled through the TNEA counselling, and 120 seats for the B.Tech Course. The minimum eligibility criteria for the course is passing marks in High school with Physics, Maths and Chemistry or any other equivalent qualification approved by the State Board of Technical Education. There's no age limit for pursuing the course. The selection for this course is conducted as per the norms through Single Window Counseling by Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Chennai.

Coimbatore Institute of Technology PG Admission
The Institute offers MCA and ME at Postgraduate level. Students can pursue it after completing their undergraduate degree in the same stream or equivalent.
Coimbatore Institute of Technology ME Admission
The Institute offers ME specialization and considers the TANCET and GATE entrance exam scores for admission. A GATE qualified student will get a stipend of Rs. 12,000 by the Government of India subjected to allocation of funds. The Institute offers MCA at Postgraduate level and takes admission on the basis of TANCET and some apply for lateral entry, with a total intake for the course being 45 students. Admission Process
The admission process for M.Sc. Integrated Programme is as follows -
Candidates can fill out an application form online.
Candidates need to appear for the CIT-M.Sc. Entrance test at a designated centre
Shortlisted candidates will then be asked to appear for a personal interview round
Candidates are selected after reviewing their 10+2 mark sheets and performance in the personal interview round.
Coimbatore Institute of Technology Ph.D
The Institute offers 5specialization and the students can also apply to part time PhD courses in Applied Chemistry. You need to have an M-Phil degree in Chemistry.
The PhD course is of 6 years and the candidate is required to have completed M.Tech or ME from a recognised university.
