Admission Process 2021
Government College of Technology, Coimbatore offers undergraduate, postgraduate and M.S (by research) and PhD programmes to the students. Admission to BE programme of GCT Coimbatore is offered on the basis of merit of the qualifying exam and the aspirants have to participate in the TNEA Counselling conducted by Anna University. M.E is offered by GCT Coimbatore on the basis of Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) conducted by Anna University and further, the aspiring candidates have to participate in the counselling process of Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET). Valid GATE scores are also considered for admissions. Admission to the doctoral programme is based on the rank secured in the entrance examination conducted by the respective research department of GCT Coimbatore. Admission process for B.E.:
Students need to register and participate in Tamilnadu Engineering Admission (TNEA).
Admission will be offered based on the merit of the qualifying examination and counselling.
Shortlisted candidates have to report to the GCT, Coimbatore and complete the admission process, which includes document verification and fee payment.
Admission process for M.E:
Students need to appear for the entrance examination - TANCET/GATE.
Admission to the candidates is based on the ranks secured in TANCET/GATE.
Candidates have to further register for admission to the institute wherein document verification and fee payment has to be done.
Admission Process for Ph.D:
Candidates need to apply online at the official website of the college.
Admission to PhD is based on the rank secured in the entrance examination conducted by the respective research department of the college.
Candidates with UGC-CSIR-NET/JRF, UGC-NET/JRF, SLET, GATE are exempted from the Entrance Test.
The final selection is based on candidates score in the entrance test and the interview.
View Course Specific Admission Process 2021
Admission to all undergraduate courses ie. Bachelors in Engineering (B.E.) is carried out through the single window system of the Anna University. Students can choose the courses based upon the state-wise rank calculated by their marks in Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Department of Education, Government of TamilNadu.
Reservations are provided for BC/MBC/DNC/SC/ST etc as per the rules of the Government of TamilNadu. Reservations are also provided for Physically handicapped / Ex-Servicemen / Sportspersons / Other state candidates.
