Jindal School of Art and Architecture, Sonipat Admission Process

Jindal School of Art and Architecture (JSAA), under the O.P. Jindal Global University in Sonipat, has very quickly established an identity in the field of Architecture and Design education. The list of undergraduate and graduate programs that the school offers, approved by the Council of Architecture, includes B.Arch, B.Des in Immersive Digital Environments, B.Des in Interior Design, and Ph.D. in Architecture.

JSAA adopts a holistic and merit-based admission process that tries to choose the very best of the candidates. The admission cycle usually starts a few months in advance of the academic year in August-September.

For B.Arch. admissions, JSAA has a peculiar three-staged approach:

1. Application form assessment
2. Score based on NATA or JEE Mains Paper II
3. Counseling

For B.Des programs, admission is done concerning the following three-tier process: Evaluation of the application form; JCAT or UCEED online entrance test; online personal interview with portfolio review.

Application Process

The application process for JSAA varies from program to program:

For B.Arch:

1. Fill up the application form through the official website of JSAA.
2. Submit NATA or JEE Mains Paper II scores.
3. Suitable candidates will be called for counseling.

For B.Des programs (Immersive Digital Environment and Interior Design):

1. Fill in the online application on the website of JSAA.
2. Take the Jindal Creative Aptitude Test (JCAT) or submit UCEED scores.
3. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online personal interview and portfolio review.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Arch: At JSAA, the flagship B.Arch program has an approved intake of 40 seats. Admission will be based on the above-mentioned three stages, namely application form, NATA/JEE Mains Paper II scores, and counselling. The five years of the program are meant to give an approximate amount of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in architecture.

B.Des in Immersive Digital Environments: The four-year Immersive Digital Environments program follows a three-stage admission approach, including application form evaluation, an online entrance test, and an online personal interview with portfolio review. Emphasis is put on practical work related to Digital Design Environment.

B.Des in Interior Design: The admission process for this four-year program is also done in a competitive way through three rounds:

1. Application form evaluation
2. Jindal Creative Aptitude Test (JCAT) or qualified UCEED score
3. Interview process including a portfolio review

Applicants who clear the first two rounds are invited for the interview and portfolio review.

Ph.D. in Architecture: While specific admission details for the Ph.D. program are not forthcoming, it is likely to be a vigorous selection with consideration given to the candidate's academic background, research proposal and interview report.

All the best

dear

here isn’t any specific criteria because each year scenario keeps on changing. Approximately 180k-200k aspirants take B.Arch Paper each year. Till 2016, Boards percentage use to play a crucial role in deciding one’s rank.

From 2017 on, as board rule has been ripped off, you will have to score 10–15 marks less than what you needed then. Some people say that competition will increase, so you require to score more than usual. But what I’ve seen is many people who got top ranks(less than 3000) had scored between 200–220 but their Boards’ percentage was above 90%. My own Board percentile was 92.03 which means 7.98% of people scored a percentage more than 88% in Boards(and obviously have taken Paper-2 exam). Any score for that percentage gets really boosted. If I score 209 in 2017, my approximate rank would be around 6k(Based on predictions of my Coaching profs). This means that anything above 250 is gonna be a top score. You score 270+ and you see yourself sitting in SPA Delhi.

Paper-2 is not difficult. You just need to practice some JEE level Math and that’s it. Drawing portion is immensely easy to do. You can have a look on some of the JEE drawing questions a week prior to your exam and that would be more than enough. If you’ve got aesthetic sensibility then you can skip practice for aptitude section as well. I never felt any sort of difficulty in that section. Just go through some history and general knowledge of architectural world by going through previous years’ papers. That would be enough for you to score good.

In B.Arch all top SPAs and NITs close their ranks at 3k. If you want to get into SPA Delhi, you’ll need an AIR of below 800. For other colleges, you need to NATA NATA exam.

Edit: I’ve recently made some edits in this answer so as to update this answer to the best of my knowledge.

good luck ..
