here isn’t any specific criteria because each year scenario keeps on changing. Approximately 180k-200k aspirants take B.Arch Paper each year. Till 2016, Boards percentage use to play a crucial role in deciding one’s rank.
From 2017 on, as board rule has been ripped off, you will have to score 10–15 marks less than what you needed then. Some people say that competition will increase, so you require to score more than usual. But what I’ve seen is many people who got top ranks(less than 3000) had scored between 200–220 but their Boards’ percentage was above 90%. My own Board percentile was 92.03 which means 7.98% of people scored a percentage more than 88% in Boards(and obviously have taken Paper-2 exam). Any score for that percentage gets really boosted. If I score 209 in 2017, my approximate rank would be around 6k(Based on predictions of my Coaching profs). This means that anything above 250 is gonna be a top score. You score 270+ and you see yourself sitting in SPA Delhi.
Paper-2 is not difficult. You just need to practice some JEE level Math and that’s it. Drawing portion is immensely easy to do. You can have a look on some of the JEE drawing questions a week prior to your exam and that would be more than enough. If you’ve got aesthetic sensibility then you can skip practice for aptitude section as well. I never felt any sort of difficulty in that section. Just go through some history and general knowledge of architectural world by going through previous years’ papers. That would be enough for you to score good.
In B.Arch all top SPAs and NITs close their ranks at 3k. If you want to get into SPA Delhi, you’ll need an AIR of below 800. For other colleges, you need to NATA NATA exam.
Edit: I’ve recently made some edits in this answer so as to update this answer to the best of my knowledge.
good luck ..
