The Dronacharya College of Engineering is located in the city of Gurugram, formerly known as Gurgaon. Gurugram is a part of the National Capital Region (NCR) adjoining New Delhi, the capital of India. This strategic location, ensures that the city is now a megapolis, and business hub, with scores of multi- national firms present. The Dronacharya College of Engineering in Gurugram (DCEG) is affiliated to the Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), which is located in Rohtak, Haryana. This affiliation ensures recognition from the UGC (University Grants Commission). The technical courses here, even have the backing of the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education).
The Dronacharya College of Engineering was built in the year 1998. It covers over ten acres of land. The Shrimati Anguri Devi Charitable Trust was behind the establishment of the DCEG. The college has also been accredited by the NBA (National Board of Accreditation) and the NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council). A separate IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) has been created to this end, to ensure that all the terms of the NAAC are complied with. An AQAR (Annual Quality Assurance Report) gets generated to quantify the results.
There are courses at both the UG as well as PG levels, here at the DCEG. At the undergrad level, the B. Tech degree is on offer for a number of engineering programmes for the areas of- Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology and in Electronics & Telecommunication. At the master’s level, the courses get more technical, and research- oriented. They may be availed in the areas of- Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology and in Electronics & Telecommunication. The entire academics here is run by a cohort of departments, each with expertise in its own area. There are departments for each of the areas of UG study. One more is there for Department of Science and Humanities. This one takes care of the fundamental sciences and the language courses.
Research is another key component of the Dronacharya College of Engineering in Gurugram. That is why, an official Newsletter gets published on campus, periodically. The college has also taken up professional membership of the ACS (Advanced Computing and Communications Society). The DCEG has striven to get corporate bodies onside for its various research establishments. This is with the aim of bridging the industry- academia divide that exists at present. Thus, American tech giant IBM has curated its own Centre of Excellence on campus for software training.
A lot of research and consulting assignments have also been undertaken in conjunction with external industry or government bodies. They provide the projects as well as substantial funding. Some of these key bodies to have provided funding for consulting assignments to the DCEG are the likes of- AICTE, DAE (Department of Atomic Energy), CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research), DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization), DST (Department of Science and Technology), ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization), MoES (Ministry of Earth Sciences), MoWR (Ministry of Water Resources), MNRE (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy), MoCIT (Ministry of Communications and Information Technology) and the INAE (Indian National Academy of Engineering).
Several regional student chapters also exist on campus here. One of them is with Google. The Code Chef hackathon also takes place here. There are local chapters here for the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), CSI (Computer Society of India), SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) and the ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education). Another area of much importance to the institute is entrepreneurship. This is why the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) has been an active forum here. It helps develop the budding entrepreneurs among the students for the institute. Experienced trainers and entrepreneurs are invited to campus to deliver guest lectures and interact with those who have such business models. Some faculty members from this college has always been acclaimed by another US tech giant Microsoft as Certified Innovative Educators. The NCAT (National Centre for Appropriate Technology) has meanwhile proclaimed the DCEG as the Best Performing Institute in the field of Creativity and Innovation.
Quite a few patents have also been filed by the students and faculty of the DCEG. Some books have also been penned down by the faculty here, especially in the area of engineering. ICON Publication, Avni Publication and Satya Prakash Publication have been the leading houses to have published the books contributed by the DCEG faculty. This research focus has also led to healthy rankings achieved across platforms. The Careers 360 magazine has rated the DCEG as a AAA grade institute. The placements have likewise remained healthy. Some of the key recruiters over recent seasons from campus have been the likes of- Amazon, Azim Premji Foundation, CFE India, Capgemini, IBM, DKPL Networks, DBN Management Services, Drishti Soft Solutions, Pernod Ricard, Travel Triangle, Moody’s, Mahindra, Safe Express Group, HSBC, Tata Sky, Fiserv, Oppo, Sobha Developers, AVL India, Paytm, Nippon Seiki Instruments, JWS and Byju’s besides others.
Careers360 shortlists over 5000 colleges across domains each year. Out of these colleges, only those colleges are rated/ranked which provide transparent data requested by Careers360. The cumulative scores of colleges are then calculated and they are divided into clusters as per their scores. Careers360 ranks private and government colleges separately as the support system of both types of Institutions is completely different.
