Hiiii Lorin!!!! First of all I would suggest you that you should not listen to others, what they are saying. If you have that keen desire in you to join a long term then go for it. It won't be a major issue at the job interviews if you have good grades and CV.
If you feel that you haven't scored good marks in JEE-MAINS and you feel that you can do better than that.
Then you can drop one year to do it better next time.
If you really want to get into your most desired branch in any of IITs or NITs then I should suggest you to go for a drop. But choose this option only when you feel that you would remain motivated throughout the year to crack mains and advanced.
Otherwise, choose the best option you are getting right now.
Good luck
