NIT Kurukshetra also known as NITKKR and Regional Engineering College Kurukshetra is among Top institutes in India for Enginering and has rank of by 41 NIRF in 2019. Below is the Final (7th) round cutoff(closing) ranks of 2018

So scoring 50 percentile and below won't show any chances of getting NITKKR in any of the branches however your friend can still try for some GEC's.

Sorry to say dear but 48 percentile is really very low score and with such low score your friend won't be able to get admission in any NIT . Advise your friend to prepare well for next year's jee main as this year he will not get seat in any NIT .
