You should majorly focus on key fundamentals and most asked questions from last 12 year papers for Class 12th preparation as well as JEE, revising all weighted based important chapters from most recommended books is very critical.
Be completed and full fledged with syllabus and have enough time for revision to score well above 75% aggregate marks which is the eligibility criteria for Admission into IITs and NITs.
Now as far as top books are concerned,
Make sure you thoroughly complete NCERT books.
NCERT bokks are for intermediate level of preparation, once you're done with it you can take up complex problems from books like:-
1. HC verma concept for Physics Part1 and Part2.
2. Organic and inorganic Chemistry by OP Tandon.
3. Mathematics by RD Sharma.
