In mosses, the sporophyte comprises of a long stalk, the seta and a capsule capped by the operculum.
This capsule capped by the operculum is sheathed by the calyptra which is haploid in nature. The calyptra is the remains of the archegonial venter and usually falls off with the maturity of the capsule.
