Why cutt off of OBC NCL IS MORE THAN GENERAL CATEGORY IN MOSS IITS

Dear Siddhant,
Though this is not the case in every B.Tech stream and every IIT, however, in most of the cases, in most of the IITs, the cutoff for OBC-NCL is higher than that of Open Category. This could be based on the reason that the number of candidates in Open Category is higher than the number of candidates applying in OBC-NCL category. Thus, when there are fewer number of candidates in OBC-NCL category, the cutoff will be higher than the Open Category.

It may happen when the number of seats reserved for OBC NCL category are too less and the No. of aspirants is too large in comparison .And conversely , at the same time the number of aspirants of GENERAL category is too less compared to the seats available for them .
