Hey.
Yes, it is possible to score well in CLAT if you start preparing now but you will be required to put in extra effort. Make sure you start preparing for Current affair from today on as it is not something that you can cover up in one month. Rest sections like legal and quantitative aptitude, you can start practicing now along with 12th boards when you get time in between. So lay more focus on GK for now and start with legal and quantitative when you get time. For rest sections you can start later too.
GK - For static you can refer to the Concised size Pearson or the Arihant’s guide.
For current affairs, first of all develop a habit to read newspapers daily. The Hindu is the newspaper preferred by various CLAT Aspirants.
There is a site called GK today.in which you can go to for current affairs. They have daily quizes based on current affairs which has been proved very usefull for CLAT preparation.
English - For Vocabulary you can refer the Word Power Made Easy. You will come across various words while reading the newspaper too, prepare a list, go through them regularly and try to use them in sentences. You should read the Editorial section of the Hindu for your Reading as well as Vocabulary section of CLAT.
For grammar you can use the Wren & Martin.
Mathematics - For Quantitative aptitude by RS Aggarwal. Other than that previous year question papers and Arihant/ Universal guide migh help too.
Legal Aptitude - Universal’s guide to CLAT and LLB, Pearson CLAT Guide are considered the best.
Logical Reasoning - RS Aggarwal
Make sure that you go through the past year question papers and practice them along with sample papers.
If you are planning to take any coaching in institutes like Career launcher, Bulls eye etc then their reading material covers all aspects. You can refer the books listed above in case you need separate books for any or all the sections.
Best of luck!
Hey.
No it is not possible to join NLUs to pursue law after graduation. As NLUs only offer 5 year Integrated courses of law which combine Undergraduation course with law. And after graduation a 3 year LLB course is a suitable one which is not offered by any NLU.
Hence after graduation the most sought after law entrances for 3 year LLB course are-
DU LLB - Delhi University
MH CET- GLC mumbai, ILS Pune and other colleges in Maharashtra
SLAT- Symbiosis Law school
PU LLB- Panjab University, Chandigarh
LSAT- Jindal Global Law School, IIT Kharagpur
BVP LLB, BHU LLB etc.
Best of luck!
Hello Padma, with the mentioned score you won't be able to get any NLU in general category. But then you can try for any other private law colleges. You have many options there.
But you can try and appear again for CLAT next year. Your rank accordingly to get a NLU must be within 2000 to 4000. And above AIR 1500 is a guarantee of getting the desired NLU.
All the best!
Thank you.
