Government College of Engineering and Technology, Safapora Admission Process

Government College of Engineering and Technology Safapora (GCET) is one of the most reputed engineering colleges of Ganderbal, Kashmir, Jammu, and Kashmir, in India. GCET has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for providing quality technical education to the aspiring engineers. The admission merit system enables the deserving students for their engineering dreams.

GCET admission procedures focus on selecting the best students for its two B.Tech courses. Thus, the common entrance test, conducted by the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations-BOPEE, is used to enroll students in the first year of its B.Tech, which this year was opened up for this prestigious and noble activity to all who have the country over to compete.

For lateral entry admissions, the candidate will be selected through the Cluster University Srinagar (CUS) for direct second-year entry for B.Tech programs. This admission process is purely dual in angle where one caters to first-time entry students and also caters to entry by transfer from other institutions such that there is equal opportunity access given to each eligible student.

Application Process

2. Entrance Examinations:

3. Candidates who want to be considered for admission for first year have to take the common entrance test to be conducted by BOPEE.

4. For admission via lateral entry, a separate selection process will be conducted by Cluster University Srinagar.

6. Eligible candidates in the entrance exam would apply to GCET when fresh results are announced.

7. Usually, the application form would be found in the portal of BOPEE or at college admission offices.

8. The applicants shall fill in the application form most sincerely, honestly, and fully.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Tech Programs:
GCET offers a total of five full-time B.Tech programs, with a duration of four years for all. The admission process for the B.Tech programs is the same, and it includes:

  • B.Tech Biomedical Engineering

  • B.Tech Civil Engineering

  • B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering

  • B.Tech Electrical and Electronic Engineering

  • B.Tech Mechanical Engineering

The admission process for all of the above was as follows:

  • First-year admissions based on the common entrance test administered by the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE).

  • Entry at the second-year level through lateral admission is processed through Cluster University Srinagar (CUS).

  • Selection based solely on merit.

Documents Submission:

The following are some of the documents required to be submitted by applicants:

  • Scorecard of the entrance exam

  • Marksheet and certificate of 10+2 (or equivalent)

  • Domicile certificate (if applicable)

  • Category certificate (if applying under any reserved category)

  • Passport-sized photographs (recently clicked)

A bittersweet experience.

Academics

Teaching quality is good but the syllabus needs to be revised. A lot of hiccups are there in the syllabus which need to be cleared. The lack of practical knowledge is what makes us lag behind the other colleges.

See admission to government college of engineering, afapora is based on jkcet score which conducts by J & K board of professional entrance examinations. However  the eligibility to appear in jkcet is candidate must be a permanent resident of union territory of j & k and ladakh.

So based on jee main score admission is not possible.
