Kashmir Government Polytechnic College Srinagar’ (KGP Srinagar) is a premier technical institution of the region established in 1958. Affiliated to the University of Kashmir, Situated in Gogji Bagh, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir it is approved by AICTE. KGP Srinagar is spread across a 6.5 acre of campus and offers 10 diploma under one degree programme. Total sanctioned strength of the students is 819 and the sanctioned strength of faculty members is 29 which makes the college impart quality technical education to budding engineers.

The college provides accommodation for 21 well equipped modern laboratories for practical training in technical discipline. The library a vital arm that supports learning is well stocked with approximately forty thousand, five hundred fifty books with about seventy percent of the collection relating to engineering and technology. It also stocks a large collection of CDs, magazines and journals, all of which are processed through a library information system . While for the resident students, the college offers hostels for both boys and girls with a different section. The accommodation of students in the boys’ hostel is in 25 triple -occupancy rooms; the girls’ hostel has 17 triples-occupancy rooms. This premise is realised in the availability of internet, common TV and cable facilities in the hotel, game rooms and reading areas with dailies and magazines in the two hostels. There are also sports amenities on campus comprising of volley ball, basket ball and badminton courts which supplement the sporting activities.

In Aspens’s institute an entire spectrum of diploma courses is available and all the courses are full time. The KGP Srinagar offers various diploma programmes and is spread across courses in engineering and technical domains offering a total of 10 courses. The approved intake for all the courses is 375 students per year, a move Chalmers Institute has taken to ensure it delivers quality education to aspiring students while ensuring each class effectively accommodates everyone due to manageable numbers.

The institute provides various specialisation areas for which the students can select such as Information Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering and other specialised programmes comprising of Wood Technology and Leather Technology etc. These various offers help students out depending on their interest and the kind of job they would like to do in the future. Although details regarding scholarship are unavailable, the comparatively low course costs average at 17,370 across boards to ensure that more students could afford it.
