Regent Institute of Science and Technology, North 24 parganas Admission Process

Regent Institute of Science and Technology (RIST) is situated in North 24 Parganas in West Bengal and offers detailed admission notification via merit-based processes for diplomas. RIST boasts its attendance in the technical education sector in a very short span of time. The institute, approved by AICTE, is pledged to provide quality education in different branches of engineering. The admission process at RIST is transparent and fair to all in order to give an opportunity to deserving candidates to pursue their desired courses. Thus, candidates are judged through the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics (JEXPO), which is a state-level entrance examination aimed at granting admission into diploma courses in Engineering and Technology in West Bengal.

For this academic year, RIST has usually opened its admission process along the lines of JEXPO timings. The JEXPO exam tests prospective students in their ability to compete with the knowledge of subjects concerning the engineering study. The exam usually covers subject areas of Mathematics, Physical Science, and English. Eligibility for admission into RIST's diploma courses is successful completion of 10th standard or equivalent from a recognized board. In addition, students must have undertaken compulsory subjects of Mathematics and Physical Science.

Application Process

The process of application to Regent Institute of Science and Technology is inclusive of a series of steps:

1. JEXPO Registration: Candidates first need to register themselves for the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics (JEXPO) conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education.

2. JEXPO Exam: Candidates should appear for the JEXPO exam on the scheduled date.

3. Results Declared: The candidates need to wait for the announcement of results for JEXPO by the examining authority.

4. Counselling Registration: Qualified candidates would need to register for their most favorite institute and course as per preferences in the centralized counselling to be conducted by the Board of Technical Education, West Bengal.

5. Choice Filling: Candidates can fill in their preferences of institutes and courses in order of preference during the counselling. RIST and its programs should be considered in this list for the candidate to be eligible for admission.

6. Seat Allotment: The seat allotment is done on the basis of JEXPO rank of the candidate with preferences.

7. Documents verification: If allotted a seat at RIST, candidates need to report to the institute for document verification. The requirements are:

  • JEXPO Rank Card
  • Class 10 Marksheet including passing certificate
  • Proof of Date of Birth
  • Category Certificate, if applicable
  • Domicile Certificate, if required,
  • Any other documents mentioned by the institute.

8. Fee Payment: The institute will allow the submission of admission fees worth Rs 36,000 at buying time and during standing verification along with documents.

9. Confirmation of Admission: After fee payment, admission is confirmed and the candidate becomes a student of the Regent Institute of Science and Technology.

Degree wise Admission Process

Diploma Programs: Regent Institute of Science and Technology provides five full-time engineering diploma programs, all with a duration of 3 years each. The admission procedure is the same for all diploma programs. The courses and their details follow:

  1. Diploma in Civil Engineering: The program offers an intake of a total of 60 seats. The total fee for the course is Rs. 36,000.
  2. Diploma in Computer Science Engineering: The institute provides 60 seats for this diploma program. The course fee is Rs. 36,000.
  3. Diploma in Electrical Engineering: RIST offers 60 seats for the diploma program, with a total fee of Rs. 36,000.
  4. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering: This program has dual shifts. The first shift has 60 seats in intake, while the second shift (Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Shift II) also offers 60 seats. The fee for both shifts is Rs. 36,000 each.

All the above mentioned diploma programs have their admissions based on the applicant's performance in the JEXPO exam. Candidates who qualify JEXPO are also eligible to apply for admission to RIST as students. Closing to the merit list is entitled as per the JEXPO scores.
