Dear Siddharth,
Greetings!
All India Management Association (AIMA), the national organisation responsible for conducting Management Aptitude Test (MAT), is renowned for organising smooth and hassle free paper based exam (PBT) as well as computer based exam, hence, there is a very little possibility of the exam being postponed. Therefore,
it will be beneficial to concentrate on the last minute preparation for the exam.
Looking at the brighter side,
the difficulty level of MAT is considered below CAT
and t
he overall pattern of the types of questions asked in MAT has remained unchanged for many years
. Therefore, it will be easier to crack this exam, if we are well acquainted with the question pattern. MAT exam is
categorised into 5 sections, including, Language Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills and Indian and Global Environment, with each section having 40 MCQs.
If one has not thoroughly prepared for these sections in advance, then,
in order to cover maximum points in minimum time, one can use the following measures:
1.
Look at the previous year’s question paper
: Since the pattern has remained same over the years, for understanding the type of questions, it is advisable to have a look at the last year’s question paper. This will prepare the base and will help in comprehending and solving questions in an efficient manner.
2.
Practice through sample papers
: In order to save time, instead of practising random questions, follow the questions given in the sample papers. The possibility of similar questions appearing in the paper is higher than following a random book with a plethora of different questions.
3.
Use mock tests
: After focusing on the previous year’s paper and sample paper, one will develop a thorough understanding of the pattern, type of questions asked and syllabus. Undertaking certain mock tests will aid in enhancing the efficiency of solving the questions while telling you the time involved. This is necessary to know the speed. Through such mock tests, one can know, where one is giving more time and whether the distribution of time is appropriate or not.
4.
Watch tutorials
: There are few tutorials available at YouTube and other platforms. These tutorials usually involve tips from the experts which can definitely be beneficial during the exam.
5.
Books and Current Affairs
: For preparation of verbal and non-verbal reasoning, one can rely on
RS Aggarwal
. While for the current affairs, it will be better to focus on the
news covering last 3 months
. There are plenty of sites which provide day to day current affairs for the preparation of competitive exams such as Jagran Josh and Current affairs.
Though these tricks can help in preparing you for the exam, but
the most important factor
, determining the outcome, is your approach towards the exam.
Don't stress out and carry a positive approach and mindset for better results.
In case of any doubt, feel free to raise more queries. We will be happy to assist you.
